While Better Call Saul has been taking care of most of your favorite characters from Breaking Bad, yet, there are some major characters we will be missing in the spin-off.
Better Call Saul is heading towards its finale, and just like Breaking Bad, fans will shed a bucketful of tears while bidding it goodbye. BCS has been a true spin-off and prequel. There couldn’t have been a better edition to Breaking Bad universe than the show on Saul. From the world to the tone, to conflicts, and even the characters it borrowed from Breaking Bad, BCS has done justice to everything. Till the 5th Season of Better Call Saul, we have seen several major Breaking Bad characters debuting into the universe before the events of BB. They all have added further layers to what we knew them for initially. However, there are a bunch of key Breaking Bad characters we haven’t seen in Better Call Saul yet. And we might never see them.
Highlights —
- Every major Breaking Bad character we will miss in Better Call Saul.
- Heisenberg – Walter White (Bryan Cranston).
- Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul).
- Skyler White (Anna Gunn), Flynn White (RJ Mitte).
- Skinny Pete & Badger.
Every major Breaking Bad character we will miss in Better Call Saul.
From the lead character Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk), aka Saul Goodman, to Gus Fring (Giancarlo Esposito), Better Call Saul has given an origin to a bunch of key Breaking Bad characters. The more we are getting to see the characters from Breaking Bad in BCS, the better we are understanding the motives and origin of all their actions in that universe.
Quoting the co-creator of the show, Peter Gould, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, where he stated, “I think by the time you finish watching Better Call Saul, you’re going to see Breaking Bad in a very different light”.
“We’re going to learn things about the fates of a lot of these characters that may surprise people or certainly throw them into a different light.”
What he said does make sense entirely. The past of the Breaking Bad characters we are now getting to see in Better Call Saul gives us a much wider sense of their actions. But there are some major characters whom we will not get to see in BCS.
Heisenberg – Walter White (Bryan Cranston)
We can’t tell how much we miss Walt. We can sell our soul to see him appear in Better Call Saul. But Walter is possibly going to be the most important Breaking Bad character we are going to miss in Better Call Saul.
The current timeline in BCS and its gap with the rising of Walt in Breaking Bad simply doesn’t allow for his appearance in BCS. Also, unlike Saul, Gus, Mike, and other key characters, Breaking Bad explored the origin of Walt’s motivation and story.
Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul)
Our desperation to see Jesse and Walt in Better Call Saul is equal and uncontained, yet we know these are the only two major Breaking Bad characters who won’t make an appearance. The reason for Jesse not appearing is the same as Walt, the gap between the timeline.
By this time Jesse might not even have completed his classes with Professor Walt. However, as Jesse was already in business when we met him in BB, there are possibilities for us to see a scene or two with him being someone’s sidekick.
Which “Better Call Saul” Character Are You? (Quiz)
Skyler White (Anna Gunn), Flynn White (RJ Mitte)
If Walter is not going to be a part of Better Call Saul, there’s no reason his Breaking Bad family will be or should be a part of it. Skyler White and Walter Junior were two of the second key characters in Breaking Bad. But for the fact that Walt hasn’t decided to cook Meth yet in Better Call Saul timeline, we won’t see his family.
Skinny Pete & Badger
Skinny Pete & Badger were two of the most adored characters in Breaking Bad for the nuances they brought into Jesse’s storyline. However, both have been working with and for Jesse when we met them in Breaking Bad. It was Jesse who employed them for his meth distribution. Also, both were playing at so low levels of the business that they have nothing to add to Better Call Saul’s storyline.
There are several other characters from Breaking Bad including Marie Schrader, Todd Alquist, etcetera that we believe we will miss in Better Call Saul. However, there are possibilities for these characters, including several others, to appear in the remaining story of Better Call Saul.
