Schumi could have won even more titles if he did not choose to be with Ferrari. This is what a former team-mate, Eddie Irvine, thinks. Do you agree?
Michael Schumacher who is considered as the greatest racer of all time was always associated with Ferrari. He was a legendary driver. So much so that he bagged five consecutive world titles before his tragic skiing accident in 2013.
Despite Michael Schumacher’s glorious career, a former teammate thinks that Schumi could have won more without Ferrari relations
This claim was recently made by Eddie Irvine. Eddie was a former Formula One driver. While Michael Schumacher was in relations with Ferrari, he had to wait for five years for his first title. And Irvine believes that the legend could have won more world championships if had he wheeled for a different team.
Eddie Irvine shared his belief at the Il Festival dello Sport saying, “Schumi was very German, except for drinking, in that he was terrible! Michael was very professional and he was one who worked very hard, a great professional”
An unbelievable driver
Subsequently, Eddie Irvine went down the memory lane while thinking about Michael Schumacher, “I remember that at that time in Ferrari everyone had his role and everyone knew that he had a lot to do. I remember when we arrived at Ferrari we were way behind but Michael had set the goal of winning with Ferrari. He was very determined. And, I repeat, all the other teams wanted him but he just wanted to win with Ferrari.”
He was all praises about Michael Schumacher but not his relations with Ferrari. Furthermore, he said. “He could have won more going somewhere else but he was a very focused person, and in the end after so many years where he came close he managed to win the World Championship five times with Ferrari thanks to his hard work.”
“A great talent but great perseverance and determination, an unbelievable driver”
