Meghan Markle loses first round of media battle
Meghan alleged in the lawsuit that the publisher deliberately “stirred up” issues between her and her father as an agenda to publish offensive stories about her. But Court has thrown out her petition leaving Suits season 10 as the only option for Meghan to expose irresponsible media.
The publisher’s lawyers argued that allegations that media stoked the family rift should be removed from the case along with references to other articles on Meghan. Justice Mark Warby struck parts of Meghan’s claim that the publisher acted dishonestly by leaving out certain passages of the letter to her father.
Justice Warby termed the allegations irrelevant for her claim to damages due to the breach of the Data Protection Act, copyright infringement and misuse of private information. But the core elements of her case hasn’t been changed. The struck out parts may be revived in the future if they are put on a proper legal basis.
