The British royals have a long line of tradition that they strictly abide by
Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton may have royal lives, but with the title of a Duchess, comes many rules and responsibilities. The two have to abide by many traditions. Time and again we have heard about many a protocol that the two royals have to follow. And now, to add to that list, an etiquette expert just revealed to News.Com.Au that they also have specific jewellery requirements too!
Well, it seems we still don’t know half of the royal traditions
Etiquette teacher, Myka Meier, told that it’s a big no-no for Kate and Meghan to feature notable diamonds during the daytime. Unless it is for a “special occasion. What is the reason for this rule? Well, the crown doesn’t want the royal family to come across as overly “flashy.” (What do you think about this rule? Now that it is on the table, it does seem reasonable, doesn’t it?)
There are detailed rules about which types of jewels the royal ladies can wear and when. Meghan and Kate cannot wear diamonds before 6 pm, what else can they? “Other jewels are worn pre-6 p.m.,” Meier explained. “Before 6 p.m., you’ll see metallics, gemstones, pearls, [and] sapphires.”
But it is not possible to confirm if this actually is the case. And if it is, whether it is ‘always’ the case. Do Meghan and Kate always avoid diamonds before evening whatever be the occasion? Though if we look closely, Meier’s rule does seem to align with what the Duchesses have pulled from their jewellery boxes lately (obviously, excluding Meghan and Kate’s stunning diamond engagement rings.)
For instance, Meghan wore a pair of pearl earrings (reportedly gifted by the Queen) at the WellChild Awards. It had relatively small diamond studs on them. But even with the diamonds, they weren’t nearly as bold as her pricey $12,000 Birks earrings that she chose for the 100 Days to Peace gala.
Similarly, Kate Middleton also chose a conservative approach with her jewellery choices when she decided upon silver hoops and pearl drop earrings to Wimbledon this July.
Well, only Meghan and Kate are the ones who really know the truth about the daytime diamond ban. And whether it is really an important thing to the Queen or not. But regardless of these rules, the two Duchesses manage to look mesmerising in whichever ensemble they decide upon. Don’t you agree? Share your views in the comments section.
