Is Marvel, at last, getting rid of Brie Larson by recasting the role of Captain Marvel in ‘Captain Marvel 2’? Or was it just another rumour?
It’s not a secret anymore that Marvel is having a hard time in keeping fans, fellow stars, and Captain Marvel star Brie Larson on the same page. A lot of controversies have surrounded Brie Larson in the past few years. And Marvel, casting her as Captain Marvel to lead the MCU, has polarized the fans base to an extent that it can now hardly be managed by Disney and Marvel. Thus, rumours suggesting that Marvel is finally considering recasting for the role of Captain Marvel in ‘Captain Marvel 2’, might mean a permanent exit for Brie Larson.

Captain Marvel recasting – Brie Larson out of ‘Captain Marvel 2’?
With Marvel dropping trailers and updates of its several new movies and Disney+ shows, last week felt like a Comic-con event. However, before all the new updates and trailers, a report shook the MCU fan base. The report was of Brie Larson’s exit from ‘Captain Marvel 2’. Was it good news or bad news depends on which side of the MCU fanbase you are, pro-Brie or anti-Brie.
However, it wasn’t the first time such a rumour shook the MCU. Brie Larson is known for either creating controversies or being a victim of them. This time, the inception of this rumour was the YouTuber Doomcock, who stated in his video:
“According to my source, ‘While it is not set in stone that Brie is gone, she is currently on thin ice. Disney has been paying attention to the downward trajectory of her YouTube page. And trust me they know people don’t like her.’”
The downfall of Brie Larson and her YouTube page
Everyone knows that Disney doesn’t like negative publicity, and the woke Brie Larson has many controversies surrounding her, all at once. One of the recent catalysts of negativity around her is her YouTube channel.
Brie and her PR team started the YouTube channel to reduce the hostility towards the actress as she talked about various woke issues and shared her personal life with her fans in the videos. However, this backfired as her YouTube channel started tanking further every week.
“According to a number of sources, Disney is not happy with Brie and they have taken notice that her YouTube channel is tanking. She has made it very easy for an objective analyst to look and see for themselves that this is not a popular woman.”
His observation makes sense as “Social Blade” reports that Larson’s YouTube channel’s monthly gained video views have steadily declined over the past three months.
The same is the case with her weekly gained subscribers, which is also seeing a sharp decline.
Doomcock also explained two potential strategies Marvel is working on to recast Captain Marvel in the upcoming movies by getting rid of Brie Larson. He stated:
“It seems that Kevin Feige definitely wants Captain Marvel in the MCU and so keeping the character and recasting her is a possibility.”
Brie Larson is not going anywhere soon
While there might be many controversies around Brie Larson playing Captain Marvel in MCU, it seems like Disney isn’t acting on reflexes. In the same week after Doomcock revealed that Marvel is recasting for Captain Marvel, the studio confirmed a new release date and a new director for ‘Captain Marvel 2’. ‘Captain Marvel 2’ will now be releasing on 11 November 2022 and will be directed by Nia DaCosta.
Marvel tweeted the announcement, and it started by stating:
“Brie Larson returns as Carol Danvers in Marvel Studios’ ‘Captain Marvel 2’, directed by Nia DaCosta.”
Following this news, Brie Larson made a tweet that rubbished all the rumours about her exit. Brie Larson shared a made-up screenshot of a text thread with the director of ‘Captain Marvel 2’, in which she confirmed her return, and also hinted at the role of Ms Marvel actress Iman Vellani in the movie. Here’s the tweet:
Nia DaCosta also followed by tweeting what could have been another controversy around ‘Captain Marvel 2’. She tweeted “Tag me, you cowards”.
However, it seems like the team at Marvel was quick enough to explain to her the volatility of the situation, thus she diluted her tweet with another tweet that said the previous tweet was a joke.
Marvel’s announcement and all these tweets punched the trolls right into their faces and confirmed that Brie Larson is not going anywhere from the Captain Marvel movies right now.
