Comic book worlds and their cinematic adaptations are much more than just knock-out matches between superheroes and supervillains. Recently, DC Comics saw the departure of co-publisher Dan DiDio and that was succeeded by rumours that are just hard to believe. But could they be true?
Have you come across a ‘Marvel is taking over DC’ report in the past 24 hours? It was a shock for every Marvel and DC fan. In the wildest dreams, if such a thing were to come true, the present generation would virtually be audience to history being made. Would it excite us or disappoint? It will surely be mixed feelings and a question fans would prefer not to ponder over.
All these reports/rumours originated from a point of singularity— Dan DiDio’s departure from DC. Could these rumours really hold any truth? Could ‘Captain Marvel vs Superman’, ‘Flash vs Spider-Man‘, or ‘Batman vs Iron Man’ movies ever be a reality in the future of superhero cinema?

The end of Dan Didio Era- What led to the firing?
Dan DiDio’s departure from DC was a shocking one. According to Cosmic Book News, Dan DiDio was fired because AT&T was not in sync with his plan to reboot DC Comics and reimagine classic characters with “contemporary” take on them. This reboot (fifth generation or 5G reboot) was reportedly also the reason for strife between Dan DiDio and Batman writer Scott Snyder. Snyder doesn’t want a reboot for his characters and comics.
But why were AT&T/Warner Bros not up for the idea of a reboot?
It is claimed that there is too much at stake. The classic characters are already making it big on-screen in movies and TV shows. The merchandise products side of the business is also thriving. So, AT&T is not ready to take the risk with these divisions which are really bringing in the profit.
In fact, to boost their DC Comics sale (which are claimed to have been rather poor), AT&T is reportedly considering Hollywood movie writers over comic book writers.
Can Kevin Feige be in-charge of DC in the post-Dan DiDio era?
According to popular rumours, AT&T is considering cutting out DC Comics altogether. This has directly led speculators to believe that DC Comics would be taken over by Marvel. Many tabloids picked up this interpretation which, if turns out to be true, would surely be the news of the century.
Ever since Kevin Feige has taken over at Marvel Studios, he has been good news. Marvel Studios has risen to become the highest-grossing studio in the history of mankind. In fact, with Marvel Phase 4 and 5, it might be on course to breaking its own records.
If Feige ever gets the opportunity to take over DC Comics, it would be a golden goose he would be willing to harvest with time and patience. But it is literally going too far when claiming that Dan DiDio’s departure from DC will open doors for Marvel to take over DC’s comic books division, especially, given the cut-throat competition between the two comic book worlds.
Rumours of a Multiverse Makeover of DC
There is no stopping the rumours. In fact, when they are based around facts, they start to seem real. But some just go too far. Some YouTubers grabbed the opportunity and cashed in claiming that Kevin Feige will take over DC Comics and bring the characters into MCU’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Do you think it could be a possibility? Could Marvel really take over DC Comics and include its characters in the current MCU phase?
The finale of Doomsday Clock comic fuels this rumour fire even further. In the DC comic book (spoiler alert), a prediction of the future for 10 July 2030 teases a crossover and names Superman, Thor and Hulk in the same sentence.
The possibility of a Batman vs Iron Man movie
Whether Marvel will take over DC or not is a matter of rumours and speculations. But whenever the two worlds crossover, it will be a treat waiting for the fans. So, what is the possibility of a Batman vs Ironman movie in the future?
It would surely be an exciting silver screen project that would be complemented by many tubs of popcorn. A 2010 short movie titled Iron man vs Batman gives us an idea of the need for this Marvel DC crossover. What’s more, this is just one among the long list of videos on Batman vs Ironman.
It is a long-standing fans’ dream to watch the two brainy superheroes share screen space. Not only these two superheroes, but Marvel and DC fans have long wanted heroes from both the worlds sharing screen space in an action-packed movie. The idea is sure an enthralling one.
Marvel and DC— Divided by Superheroes
While it is a far-fetched idea that Marvel will take over DC or vice-versa, a crossover is every fan’s fantasy.
