Will Daredevil return with season 4?
Daredevil alongside other MCU TV counterparts The Defenders fell prey to cancellation spree ran by Netflix and with that ended Marvel’s TV journey on Netflix. Daredevil received the pink slip in November 2018. Since then rumour mills are churning different theories on whether Daredevils will return with season 4 or not.
No fear when daddy Disney’s there!
Are all hopes dashed for Daredevil season 4 after cancellation by Netflix? Not really. Marvel was acquired by Disney and recently Disney launched its new streaming platform Disney+. Currently, many Marvel shows are secretly under development for exclusive streaming on Disney+ platform. This has led to a wide range of speculations on The Defenders return. But here’s a hitch
Dare Marvel breaks the devilish contract!
If Marvel’s thinking they can cling on to their Disney daddy, Netflix has made sure that they can’t get away so easily. In one of the clauses of exclusivity contract signed between video streaming giant and Marvel, the later can’t film Marvel’s Netflix originals on other platforms for 2 years after cancellation.

The Punisher, spinoff of Daredevil joined later and was not a part of the contract, so nothing can be clearly said on its future. But Marvel can’t start filming before 2 year contract period. Prospects of Daredevil season 4 looks dim in this case but can’t be entirely denied.
Let’s recall Daredevil TV journey
The series revolves around Matt Murdock (played by Charlie Cox) who works as a lawyer in the day and vigilante (by the name Daredevil) by the night. Blinded from childhood, his other 4 senses are super sharp enabling him to perform superhuman acts. In the process, he has drawn ire of crime lord Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio).
Story of Season 4 spilt by Charlie Cox
After the well-received season 3, the cancellation came as a shocker for the fans as well as the lead man Charlie Cox. Speaking to Inverse, he was quoted as saying:
“I know that it’s not personal, or it certainly doesn’t feel personal to me. Obviously, I’m very saddened by the cancellation and I was shocked by it because Season 3 had been so well received. I imagined we would continue making the show.”
He also spilled the plot of season 4 in the interview. If season 4 would be made it will revolve around Man Without Fear vs Bullseye “I was looking forward to Wilson Bethel kind of getting to inhabit the character of Bullseye.”
Cox adds, “Season 3 was kind of an origin story for the character and how Agent Poindexter becomes that character. So, I was looking forward to having a season where he really embodies the Bullseye persona and what that dynamic would be between Bullseye and Daredevil.”
Season 3 ended on a severe note for Poindexter and how unchecked mental illness can take such a drastic route. Season 4 is made, can further explore the madness behind the insatiable hunger of killing in full-fledged assassin, Bullseye (Poindexter).
No official announcement has been made on the future of Daredevil season 4. Fans even petitioned on change.org to bring back season 4 of Daredevil after news of cancellation ran across. Even Disney can’t stream it before the 2 year contract period. There is still a ray of hope for Daredevil fans. If not sooner but later, Daredevil season 4 might get in the umbrella of Disney+.
