The ‘Extra’ hosts’ comments were called damaging by experts and LGBTQ advocates
Television personality Mario Lopez is at the centre of major backlashing for his comments. He had said that it’s “dangerous” for parents to support transgender kids. But recently he took his words back and apologised for his insensitive comments. While most are condemning his comments, some are in favour.
Mario Lopez comments on transgender kids are being termed insensitive

But what’s interesting is that the co-host of ‘Extra‘ made these outrageous comments in June. When he appeared on The Candace Owens Show. But it was only recently that his comments gained attraction on social media platforms.
In the 40 minutes of the interview, Owens noted that Mario Lopez’s son had “boyish” interests. Besides, it struck her as “a weird trend” that some of the celebrities (for example, Charlize Theron) let their kids choose their own gender identity
Furthermore, Owens who was once a nanny, said that she believes that children did not have the “mental authority” required to express gender identity different from what was assigned by birth.
Subsequently, to all this, Mario Lopez responded, “I’m kind of blown away, too. I’m never one to tell anyone how to parent their kids, obviously, and I think if you come from a place of love, you really can’t go wrong, but at the same time, my God, if you’re 3 years old and you’re saying you’re feeling a certain way or you think you’re a boy or a girl or whatever the case may be, I just think it’s dangerous as a parent to make that determination.”
Furthermore, Mario Lopez added, “It’s sort of alarming, and my gosh, I just think about the repercussions later on.”
