World Child Labour Day falls on 12 June and is aimed at spreading awareness on the ground reality of child awareness
World Day against Child Labour was initiated by the International Labour Organisation in the year 2002. Since then it is observed on 12 June each year. In fact, the agenda behind the initiating this day was to throw light and motivate efforts to join hands in the fight against child labour.
Hence, in tune with the aim, this year’s theme of World Day against Child Labour is-
“Children shouldn’t work in fields, but on dreams”
As per the ILO, a whopping 152 million children are still engaged in child labour! What’s shocking is that 7 out of 10 children in child labour, are working in the agriculture sector
Consequently, as the World Day against Child Labour is at hand, the proud co-owner of Nobel peace prize 2014, Kailash Satyarthi, raised some thoughtful questions through twitter-
