Amy Sherman-Palladino Takes Some Inspiration From ‘Gossip Girls’
The American writer might know how to keep her shows interesting and create great cliffhangers that leave fans wanting more, but the one thing that the creator seems to not have understood yet is that fans of her shows are smart and quick to figure out when something doesn’t add up, or when their favourite show’s characters are an inspiration from characters of another show.
Similarities between Rory and Lonely Boy Dan, both being writers for “The New Yorkers”, and Luke and Paris being soooo much like Rufus Humphrey and Blair Waldorf respectively, and both shows ending with a wedding has either got to be a coincidence or has been purposely planned for something bigger in the future. Hint: A major crossover!
What Will Be The Crossover Be All About?
Now that the cat’s out of the bag, let’s dive into what’s in store for fans. We all know how things ended in season 1, and in my opinion,; it was without a doubt one of the most frustrating cliffhangers ever.
Why you ask? To begin with, why can’t the show ever end on a happy note for once? Luke and Lorelai’s wedding could’ve been the perfect ending to the show. But I also understand why the show ended the way it did. Cliffhangers are a hope for a new season, aren’t they?
A ‘Gossip Girls’ and ‘Gilmore Girls’ crossover could be very good for the show’s ratings. Imagine Blair meeting Rory, they become friends and are by each other’s sides especially if Rory decides to have her baby. Similarly, Lorelai, Serena, and their prince charmings all meet each other and become very important people in each other’s lives.
The second instalment will unravel the adventures Rory took in season 1, which eventually led to finding out that she was pregnant. The first half of the show could possibly be a “baby daddy reveal”, and later a gender reveal. But all of this would be possible only if Rory decides to keep the baby. It would only be fair if she does. I mean, didn’t Lorelai do too?
