What followed was domination, craze, and two other spin-offs — The Originals and Legacies. These met with moderate success. Of the three, Legacies is still running. But now that we are nearing another finale, could it be possible that the three shows, with its vampires, werewolves, and all things supernatural, are coming together for one last hurrah?
The vampire world ‘s intertwining destinies
The creator of all three shows, Julie Plec, has put in a lot of effort to see that the timeline makes sense. Even though the characters found their origin in The Vampire Diaries, the show is the second in the trilogy.
The Originals, before it became a show, were vampires introduced in the second season of The Vampire Diaries, and left soon after season 4, when Klaus finds out that he has impregnated Haley. Haley gives birth to Hope in The Originals and she becomes a central character in the second spin-off Legacies.
Meanwhile, in The Vampire Diaries season 7, we see Jo giving birth to Alaric’s twin daughters, Jozie and Lizzie Saltzman. The Vampire Diaries ends with Alaric and Caroline opening the Salvatore School, where Legacies takes place.
The fifth and final season of The Originals introduces us to a teenage Hope. The show gives all characters a proper send-off while giving the audience the chance to get emotionally invested in Hope.

Legacies: How has the show fared?
Season 1 of Legacies picks up two years after Klaus’ and Hayley’s deaths, making Hope 17-years-old. Alaric’s twin daughters, Lizzie and Josie, are two years her junior. In season 2, we find that Kai Parker (Chris Wood) killed Josie (Kaylee Bryant) and Lizzie’s (Jenny Boyd) mother in The Originals, leaving the audience shaken. Season 3 will most likely concentrate on a premise of revenge for both Josie and Lizzie, now that Parker is dead.

So, fans are automatically asking one question. Will Alaric Saltzman (Matthew Davis) ever land on his feet in the love department? Alaric got married in The Vampire Diaries only to have his wife become a vampire and kill herself under the influence of a warlock.
Season 3 of Legacies will premiere in January 2021, and is hell-bent on bringing forth a few surprises for fans who had to suffer a short season 2 due to the pandemic. What kind of surprises should we look forward to?
Legacies Finale May Bring The Vampire Diaries And The Originals Together
After season 2 ended early, fans went into a frenzy. Julie Plec, creator of the vampire universe, had reportedly planned a reunion of the three shows’ characters in a musical episode destined to be a part of season 2 of Legacies.
With filming getting interrupted mid-season, the creator took to Twitter to assure the fans that it is still on the cards. Season 3 is supposed to bring together the alumni who were once responsible for making the fandom a global success. Candice King who played Caroline, Nina Dobrev, the affable Elena, Ian Somerhalder, the infamous Damon Salvatore and Joseph Morgan, aka Klaus, are all expected to make a cameo in a musical for Legacies.
We know that these characters are the ones who helped Legacies spread its wings whirl in the success that The Vampire Diaries started to work in 2009. It is only fitting that the characters are there through some magic or flashback to see it all come a full circle in a wonderful finale.
