Sherman-Palladino requested fans to not spoil the ‘Gilmore Girls’ ending
Sherman-Palladino had earlier revealed that she had spent twelve years waiting to release the final four words into the sky. She felt that if they ever did a movie, she would be able to use it there or maybe eventually she will say it because it has been so built up. In late 2016, Netflix decided to bring back ‘Gilmore Girls’ for a brief outing, ‘Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life’ with Sherman-Palladino. The WB show released four episodes with a ninety-minute duration each. Finally, the never-ending speculation of the final four words was revealed. However, Sherman-Palladino wanted to release the series in installments. Since that was not possible. She urged fans to not fast-forward through the four 90-minute episodes and disclose the mystery.
“It would be great if people who wanted to see the last four words first got some therapy before it actually aired and got rid of that inclination because it really is a journey leading up to the last four words”
She told Variety.
The show also requested fans to “Take the Four Words Pledge” and not spoil the ending for other viewers.

‘Gilmore Girls’ ending
In the final scenes of ‘Gilmore Girls’, both Lorelai and Rory were sitting on the gazebo in the middle of the Stars Hollow town square. It was Lorelai and Luke’s wedding day, even though they got married secretly just a night before. While sitting, Loreal jokes that Rory should also get married so they could do married lady things like dye their hair blue and go bowling together. At that moment, Rory got a breakup email from Paul. It is a relief for her as she had been planning to break up with him, but kept forgetting. Lorelai comforted by telling her how he will find someone amazing one day. And so will she. For a minute, Rory gets distracted. The final four words.
Rory: “Mom”?
Lorelai: “Yeah”?
Rory: “I am pregnant.”
Credits roll with the theme song “Where you Lead” in the background. End of the iconic series.
In a way, the ending of the ‘Gilmore Girls’ completed a full circle. Rory was now thirty-two years old; the same age Lorelai was in the first season of ‘Gilmore Girls’. For the makers to write this ending with Rory’s pregnancy is interesting as the major part of the show went in Lorelai trying to protect Rory from making the same mistakes she did when she was young. Now Rory will also be a single mother. However, the ending of the ‘Gilmore Girls’ seemed slightly abrupt too as the viewers did not get to see Lorelai’s reaction or how Rory handles single motherhood after just getting herself back on track. A major question that was left in the minds of many viewers was who is the father of Rory’s child? Is it Logan or Paul? Guess we will never know.

Lauren Graham talks about the ‘Gilmore Girls’ ending
When Lauren Graham (Lorelai Gilmore) went on ‘On Air With Ryan Seacrest’, she revealed that they had actually filmed various reactions of Lorelai hearing the news. “The reaction I gave I would say a 50-50 mix of surprise and total joy.”
She also talked about how shocked she was after getting to know the final four words in ‘Gilmore Girls’. “I love the idea that even if you are frustrated, your imagination can take over”, said Graham.
Over the years, fans have concluded that Logan is the father of the baby. Not only because they slept together, but also because he is very similar to Christopher. Tell us in the comment section below if you agree that Logan is the father of Rory’s child!
