The British-Indian actor rose to fame with his role in ‘The Big Bang Theory’ as the astrophysicist Rajesh Koothrappali. The American TV sitcom premiered on CBS on September 24th, 2007 and concluded on May 16th, 2019, having broadcasted a total of 279 episodes over twelve seasons.
The main reason why the show came to an end was Jim Parsons’ decision to move on from the show and invest his time in other projects, leaving the cast unhappy about this decision.
Why is Kunal Nayyar upset?
According to an online report, at the time when Parsons had told the producers that he did not want to be a part of the show anymore, he was offered 50 million dollars to do season 13, but he chose to “end things for good”.
The same report also suggests that the main reason Nayyar was upset was because his story was cut short. All throughout the 12 seasons, Raj had quite an experience with women. From being the absolute shy guy who found it hard to speak to women, to being the “Brown dynamite”, the 38-year-old ended up not knowing what his future would hold.
In the final season, Raj asked his father to find a wife for him. He eventually got engaged to a woman named Anu, who he later break ups with and also gets back together. In “The Maternal Conclusion”, he decided to relocate with her to London and propose, but, Howard convinced him otherwise, and Raj and Anu broke up.
While fans got to witness Howard, Leonard, and Sheldon get married to their partners, Raj is the only one whose story didn’t end with a happily ever after. Perhaps, a new season or spin-off series could bring fair justice to the incomplete timeline.
Is there a way for Chuck Lorre to make it up to Nayyar?
Originally, the show was to go on for another season or two. But Jim Parsons’ sudden decision to leave forced Chuck Lorre to make a decision that he would ultimately regret. Fans were not pleased with the decision either.
With ‘Young Sheldon’ being the best new thing after TBBT, it is right about the time that Lorre had his talk with CBS to support the idea of either a new season or a new spin-off show highlighting Raj’s life growing up.
The sudden break we didn’t see coming
The unfinished story seems to have affected the actor quite deeply, which has resulted in a big break from his fans. After the cast celebrated one year since ‘The Big Bang Theory’, the now 39-year-old announced, through a post on Instagram, that he’s taking a breather.
“Over the next few weeks, I will be transitioning my personal page over to my publicity team”, he told his 2.7 million followers. Here you will still find news on the acting/producing front, as well as an occasional random selfie of me, pouting”, he added.
He ended his statement with, ”To all of my close friends, if you need me, text me. And to everyone else, I love you more than words can imagine, though I will be checking in from time to time, for now, it is me saying adieu …And if you enjoyed my spiritual musings, if they helped bring you some joy, then do stay in touch on @buddhainjeans. I love you”.
