Fans haven’t forgotten their old MCU superheroes
Audiences haven’t forgotten how their heroes, who previously headlined their own shows on Netflix, are nowhere to be seen. After Marvel’s foray into Disney+, Kevin Feige is obviously facing lots of questions about the fate of Netflix’s street-level characters.

As of now, fans haven’t heard of any concrete plans to bring those heroes into the larger MCU. There doesn’t appear to be any announcements from the Marvel franchise regarding the return of ‘Daredevil’, ‘Jessica Jones’, ‘Luke Cage’, ‘Iron Fist’, and ‘The Punisher’ with new seasons. But, the good news is that Feige still isn’t ruling out their return.
Kevin Feige hints at the possibility of their return
Kevin Feige addressed the possibility of the return of ‘Daredevil’, ‘Jessica Jones’, ‘Luke Cage’, ‘Iron Fist’, and ‘The Punisher’, recently, while speaking with “The Hollywood Reporter”. When asked regarding their showing up in future Marvel projects, Kevin said that obviously, the studio’s current focus is on having new characters star in their own Disney+ series. But the option of new seasons of these superheroes on Disney+ is always on the table.
According to Kevin,
“Everything is on the board, and that’s one of the fun things about the comics is that characters would appear and disappear and come and go. All of it is inspiration for the future. There are some great characters and actors from those shows”
As you might remember, Netflix cancelled ‘Luke Cage’, ‘Daredevil’, and ‘Iron Fist’ in late 2018, and subsequently ‘Jessica Jones’ and ‘The Punisher’ faced the axe the following year. But fans were relieved as they were hoping that Marvel was planning revivals on Disney+ or Hulu.
The Netflix deal is the roadblock
There’s one glitch why this is not happening. According to the terms of Marvel’s original deal with Netflix, until two years after their respective cancellations, those characters couldn’t pop up in any new MCU films or TV shows. This means that ‘Jessica Jones’ and ‘The Punisher’ will be available to use starting next month. But until now, nothing seems to be happening on these fronts.
