‘The Big Bang Theory’ ended after season 12, leaving the show’s dedicated audience stunned and heartbroken due to Jim Parsons’ departure. But the biggest blowback was to his co-star Kaley Cuoco who felt betrayed by his decision to leave the popular sitcom.
When ‘The Big Bang Theory’ ended, fans were left heartbroken. But the heartbreak was soon followed by suspicion. Why would one of the most celebrated sitcoms in over a decade end abruptly when the fans of the show were expecting more seasons?
Highlights:
- ‘The Big Bang Theory’ without the bang
- No big bang without Sheldon?
- Season 13 for ‘The Big Bang Theory’?
The show premiered in 2007 and celebrated the glory of being the most celebrated sitcom in the 2010s. The show ended with its 12th season in 2019 after Jim Parsons, who plays Sheldon Cooper on the show, decided that was it for him.
Not everyone took the decision well. Let’s find out more.
‘The Big Bang Theory’ without the bang
There was a lot that was said about the show’s ending. But the truth came out after the show was off-air.
A crew member of the show hinted that Jim Parsons decided to not come back for season 13. The creators of ‘The Big Bang Theory’ decided that maybe this was a hint to put a stop to the show. Show-runner Chuck Lorre, who has been with the show since the very starting, had previously made it clear that the day one of the star cast quits, ‘The Big Bang Theory’ will roll its curtains.

The confrontation did not go down well between Jim Parsons and Kaley Cuoco who plays the popular character ‘Penny’ on the show. Not to use to the word bitter, but for Chuck Lorre, who was hoping to push for another two seasons after season 12 of ‘The Big Bang Theory’, was struck dumb along with the rest of the cast.
No big bang without Sheldon?
Sheldon Cooper has been the central character of ‘The Big Bang Theory’ since season 1 episode 1. But so has Kaley Cuoco’s character Penny. Kaley Cuoco’s comic timing, sassy persona, and epic one-liners transformed her into a star, all thanks to the sitcom.
But in Chuck Lorre’s mind, there was absolutely no way ‘The Big Bang Theory’ could have run without Jim Parsons playing his iconic character.
And when Jim Parsons informed Chuck Lorre of the same, it was from the point of creative saturation. Jim Parsons had reached a point where he didn’t want to play the role of Sheldon Cooper. He also went on to mention that it wasn’t an easy decision but was the right one.
Kaley Cuoco hasn’t been feeling all that grateful or understanding towards him. But does this mean we might never get to see Sheldon Cooper and the rest of the gang again?
Season 13 for ‘The Big Bang Theory’?
While ‘The Big Bang Theory’ might have come to an end owing to Jim Parsons leaving, that isn’t reason enough to not expect something in the future. Kaley Cuoco has informed the fans that she is up for a revival anytime Chuck Lorre decides to have one.
The final season saw Sheldon winning the Nobel Prize he had been working so diligently towards since we first met him. Penny and Leonard (Johnny Galecki) announced that they were expecting their first child, and Raj was just as single as ever while Howard and Bernadette were enjoying their married life.
The next season could focus on Penny and Leonard preparing to welcome their first child and Sheldon and Amy enjoying their married life, and Raj also might get married.
Well, whatever the makers of the show decide to show these characters doing, the audience will be there to see the show for many more seasons to come.
