Though Kaley Cuoco has taken up a new role in ‘The Flight Attendant’, she still identifies herself as ‘The Big Bang Theory’s’ Penny and keeps watching these favourite episodes of the show.
She just can’t get over ‘The Big Bang Theory’, though Kaley Cuoco’s current role in HBO’s murder-mystery ‘The Flight Attendant’ may have led fans to temporarily forget that she was once Penny on modern TV’s most popular sitcom. But here’s a glitch! She doesn’t like to watch the later seasons of ‘The Big Bang Theory’. Although, she has great fun watching episodes of early seasons. Scroll down to know why!

- The hesitation not because of judging herself on-screen
Kaley Cuoco’s favourite ‘The Big Bang Theory’ episodes
It’s no surprise that fans of ‘The Big Bang Theory’ have watched and re-watched and weaved their fan-theories around season 13. Kaley Cuoco is no different. People have invested 12 precious years of their life enjoying the sitcom and it is just hard to breathe in a world without Sheldon, Amy, Penny, Leonard, Raj, Bernadette, and Howard.
Kaley has repeated, over and over again, that she wants a reboot of the series. She was too young when she auditioned for the role of Penny, and in 12 years, she built her personality around the series. It is hard for any actor to part with a character that one has played for so long.
Recently, she was interviewed by talk show host Conan O’Brien in context of her new show ‘The Flight Attendant’. Conan O’Brien during the podcast of ‘Conan Needs a Friend’, popped the obvious question – if she is still into ‘The Big Bang Theory’? Kaley Cuoco told Conan that she is only comfortable watching her favourite episodes from early seasons of the series. And fans were puzzled to hear that.
Kaley Cuoco’s hesitation is not because of judging herself on-screen
She took no time to explain her statement and said that she can’t identify herself with the young Penny of earlier seasons. This is because of the long enough distance from that point in her career due to which she isn’t immediately drawn back into the emotional headspace. Let’s read Cuoco’s own words:
“I can’t believe how many different hairstyles I had and all the different clothes I wore on the series.”
She added saying,
“It’s very weird because I’m much more okay watching the earlier seasons as opposed to the most recent ones. The recent ones are still too emotional for me”.
Explaining why she prefers watching early seasons, she said,
“The early, early ones feel like a different person and a different time so I’m able to watch it and laugh. But the recent ones are tough, it was strange getting out of that and figuring what the next step was going to be. In my mind, I was going to be on it for 27 years”.
Not just Cuoco, many actors are shy watching themselves on-screen and they avoid watching the episodes where they have acted. This certainly keeps these actors from enjoying projects they’ve acted in over the years. Cuoco’s hesitation is not because she is uncomfortable watching herself on-screen.
It is because early episodes don’t remind her of the emotional moments she shared with her co-stars. She fails to identify Penny of early episodes with herself because she was so different 12 long years ago. This is why early episodes of The Big Bang Theory are Kaley Cuoco’s favourite. She grew old with ‘The Big Bang Theory’ and her co-stars and misses that time she spent on the sets.
Her favourite episodes from ‘The Big Bang Theory’ are the later ones, she has stated. It is also possible that her opinion changes a few years later and she would move over ‘The Big Bang Theory’, though it seems unlikely today.
