The final season of ‘The Big Bang Theory’ aired last year, but that was not the end of crazy paydays for Kaley Cuoco and the rest of TBBT cast!
The fact that CBS’s ‘The Big Bang Theory’ cast has some of the highest-paid actors on television does not come as a surprise to us. After all, it is one of the highest-rated television series of all time and had 18 million viewers tune in to watch the finale last year. And, during seasons 6 through 11, the show averaged over 18 million viewers which is very rare for any broadcast show!
- Did you know that Kaley Cuoco made over $55 million from TBBT?
- Kaley could live out the rest of her days on her unending fortune
- Now that TBBT has come to an end, what’s next for Kaley Cuoco?
The popular sitcom introduced us to characters who would go on to become our favourite nerds of all time. Kaley Cuoco plays Penny, a waitress and aspiring actress who lives across the hall from Leonard Hofstadter (Johnny Galecki) and Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons), roommates and physicists at Caltech.
Leonard and Sheldon’s just as geeky and socially awkward friends include Raj Koothrappali (Kunal Nayyar), an astrophysicist who is terrified of talking to women, and aerospace engineer Howard Wolowitz (Simon Helberg) who might be a little too upfront, and, unlike his friends, doesn’t have a doctoral degree, for which he is regularly made fun of.
While the nerds are unintentionally charming and can be funny, Penny is the more relatable one. She is unbothered by their little science experiments and sees them for who they are, even though they might be a little unconventional at times.
Throughout the course of the show, Kaley Cuoco went on to earn $1 million per episode, from the $45,000 she was paid during the first season. But is that what led to her staggering net worth?
Did you know that Kaley Cuoco made over $55 million from TBBT?
According to “Celebrity Net Worth”, Cuoco has amassed an eye-watering net worth of $55 million, as of 2018. Looking back at her career before her role in ‘The Big Bang Theory’, Cuoco started out pretty young, in fact, she was just five when she first starred in Oscar Mayer and Barbie commercials back in the 90s!
She went on to appear in shows like ‘My So-Called Life’, ‘Northern Exposure’, ‘7th Heaven’, and her very prominent role in ‘Growing Up Brady’ (as Marsha Brady) which gave her a well-deserved spot in the limelight! Her successful stint with the sitcom only happened in 2007, a role that would go on to make her one of the highest-paid television actresses ever!
While playing Penny, Cuoco scored some incredible endorsement deals, especially her partnership with Toyota and Priceline that added $2 million to her net worth, according to “GoodHouseKeeping.com”. Her acting career, spanning over 20 years, is definitely what led to those heavy pockets.
Kaley could live the rest of her days on her unending fortune from TBBT
The sitcom series will continue to thrive by gaining viewership through television reruns that are sure to happen for a long, long time. Because who doesn’t want to meet a gang of loveable nerds and a waitress trying to make sense of them?
But, how is it possible for Kaley Cuoco to earn a fortune from just TV reruns? “Metro” reported that during the last few seasons of the show, when the cast members were as popular as ever, Kaley Cuoco, Johnny Galecki, and Jim Parsons negotiated a deal with the network, where they’d be eligible to earn 1% of the show’s backend equity. In the first year of sales itself (when the show was made available on OTT platforms for viewers to stream), the series generated $1 billion.
This means that the three cast members earned an extra $10 million in the first year itself! It is not unfair to assume that the big three may continue to earn the $10 million for the decade that is to come.
Now that TBBT has come to an end, what’s next for Kaley Cuoco?
Things are still looking up for Kaley after the end of the successful sitcom series. She will be playing producer, and voice the clown queen Harley Quinn in an animated series of the villainess, produced by DC Universe.
She will also be working on her brand new project, ‘The Flight Attendant’, a series for WarnerMedia that is based on a book by author Chris Bohjalian. Cuoco was actually the one who discovered the novel before its publishing and guided it through to filming. It is set to premiere on HBOMax later this year.
