Fate befalls everyone – be it the the once unlucky but now megastar Henry Cavill or the once global Hollywood icon but currently unfortunate Johnny Depp.
Hollywood is an unpredictable place, and this unpredictability gets to everyone regardless of who they are. On the other hand, Johnny Depp has been one of the most-wanted, highest-paid actors for more than two decades. However, it seems like the two have decided to swap their fortunes, for now at least.
Although we would never want to tag Johnny Depp as the unluckiest man in Hollywood, even in our dreams, sadly that’s exactly what the actor’s career has started to look like. Meanwhile, Henry Cavill can now undoubtedly be tagged as the most-wanted actor in recent times.

Henry Cavill & Johnny Depp – The swapped fortune
Hollywood is a world, and in this vast world, a million people succeed, fail, dream, rule, retire, every year. Thus, if someday you see an actor vanishing from this world, you don’t blink an eye. But this is true only to an extent.
When it comes to the fan-favorite stars who have been around for decades or have been part of unforgettable movies, fans do not allow someone to even blink an eye around them. When an unfortunate turn arrives in the career of such stars, it becomes global news and a cause of concern for fans. The same happens when an actor who hasn’t been around for long, or who has been around but struggled hard to be noticed, gets the due success in terms of fame, popularity, and love from the fans.
This has happened with two of the biggest stars in the industry. While Johnny Depp is the one whose career has taken some unfortunate turns, Henry Cavill is now receiving all the dues of his struggles in the industry. Let’s see how both their careers have progressed.

The fall of Johnny Depp’s career
Even the thought is terrifying, the career of one of the greatest actors till very recent, Johnny Depp, has taken a sharp dip. The actor who has been loved for the roles of Captain Jack Sparrow, Edward Scissorhands, Tonto, and many more, is now on the edge of either never returning, or returning to not have the same career.
The Good Times
Johnny Depp has been one of the most wanted actors in Hollywood for over two decades. He has been nominated for 10 Golden Globe Awards, 3 Academy Awards for best actor, and is regarded as one of the world’s biggest stars. One of the most successful works by Jhonny Depp is Disney’s ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ film series, in which he plays one of the most iconic characters in cinema, Jack Sparrow. The series earned over $4.5 billion in the box office.

The Trouble:
But everyone knows what the ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ star has suffered in the last couple of years: Domestic abuse allegations from his ex-wife Amber Heard; the not so peaceful divorce between the couple; tabloids targeting the actor and calling him “wife beater” before any court ruling; allegations of harassment and cheating on his ‘Aquaman’ star ex-wife, and a dozen other stuff.
Though the actor has not been proven guilty yet, in the last few years, almost all studios have distanced themselves from Depp. Even after staying clean of any sort of proof or judgment against him from the court, the actor has been experiencing a void.
Even Disney, the studio which has one of its biggest franchise dependent on Johnny Depp for its success, has shown no intent of taking the actor back. And, thus, the career of one of the greatest actors is hanging from a thread, at least for the time being.
The rise of Henry Cavill
While Johnny Depp is experiencing a fall, Henry Cavill has risen to become one of the most wanted stars in the industry right now. Henry Cavill is the actor who was tagged as “the unluckiest man in Hollywood” by Empire magazine, as reported by BBC. For over a decade, the British actor struggled to get the recognition he deserved.
The actor was “unlucky” as he faced rejections after rejections, for each and every worthy role he auditioned. While rejections aren’t rare, the kind of near misses the actor faced every time was certainly a rare pattern.
Rejections
Cavill started his career in the early 2000s. In the decade, Cavill tried and lost DC’s ‘Batman’ to Christain Bale in Nolan’s series; Cedric Diggory to Robert Pattinson in ‘Harry Potter’ even after being backed by petitions; ‘Twilight’s’ lead to Pattinson even after being Stephenie Meyer’s only choice; James Bond to Daniel Craig in ‘Casino Royale’ after being the second finalist; Superman to Brandon Routh in ‘Superman Returns’, and these are only a few of many such rejections.
Undoubtedly, like Johnny Depp now, Henry Cavill was the unluckiest man back then. But the rejections didn’t stop him. After facing rejections in the previous decade, the luck of Cavill allowed him to rule the industry in this decade.
The Comeback:
While he lost ‘Superman’ in 2006, he became the fan-favourite Superman in Zack Snyder’s ‘Man of Steel’ in 2013. While he couldn’t become Batman back then, he fought and almost killed Batman as Superman in two DC movies. He was adored by the fans when he threw punches on Tom Cruise as an antagonist in ‘Mission: Impossible- Fallout’.
While he missed two shots on fantasy back then, he became the lead in one of the most popular and watched fantasy thriller on Netflix ‘The Witcher’. And while he couldn’t be James Bond back then, he got the chance to play the great Sherlock Holmes in Netflix’s soon to release ‘Enola Holmes’.
With so many achievements under his belt in this decade, Henry Cavill is riding high on success. The unluckiest man in Hollywood from the 2000s is the most wanted and loved actor in this decade. That’s why it feels as if Johnny Depp and Henry Cavill have swapped their luck. But we hope that Depp will be back as Jack Sparrow, and Cavill continues to grace our screens with his brilliant performances.
