Joe Biden is finally the 46th President of United States. Biden’s inauguration took place at the oddest of the moment yet pertinent. The world is battling a pandemic and strict social distancing measures are in place. Nonetheless, one thing is back that was virtually missing four years back – ‘the A list.’ Biden’s inauguration saw a host of celebrities like Tom Hanks, John Legend, Justin Timberlake, Bon Jovi., Katy Perry and more. The highlight of the event was power-packed performances by Lady Gaga and Jennifer Lopez.

The top-tier performers were part of Celebrating America – a 90-minute, multi-network evening broadcast. The event took place instead of the usual official inaugural ball was hosted by Tom Hanks. Lady Gaga, who share old ties with Biden, opened the ceremony. with a soulful rendition of the national anthem. Following her performance was Jennifer Lopez who performed Woody Guthrie’s classic “This Land Is Your Land”. However, their performances at the US Capitol were as distinct as they are as pop-stars.

During the inauguration, Lady Gaga performed the national anthem with US Marine Band as Joe Biden and Kamala Harris took their oath. The sight was nothing short of the spectacle. Gaga looked like a vision in a long-sleeved Schiaparelli gown that featured a fitted navy drop-waist bodice. She completed the look with a voluminous scarlet skirt and an oversized gold dove pin with an olive branch.
Before singing ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’ she tweeted, My intention is to acknowledge our past, be healing for our present, and passionate for a future where we work together lovingly. I will sing to the hearts of all people who live on this land.” The singer’s ties with Biden goes back to his Vice Presidential days during the Obama administration.
Jennifer Lopez – Liberty & Justice
Pop-queen Jennifer Lopez attended the evening in white Chanel pantsuit with a lace ruffle collar. She started her performance with American Folk song, “This Land Is Your Land,” throwing in a twist of her own hit single “Let’s Get Loud”. One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all,” Lopez also said in Spanish during her performance. She closed her performance with “America the Beautiful.”
A day before her performance Lopez wrote on Twitter, “What an honor to spend a few moments with these brave men and women. Thank you for your service and sacrifice. I honor you today and every day. Tomorrow I sing for you and all Americans,”
