Jim Parsons never said no to ‘The Big Bang Theory’?
A few months ago, Jim Parsons appeared on the HFPA In Conversation to discuss his new Netflix movie, ‘The Boys in the Band‘. There he talked about how many opportunities conflicted with the show.
He mentioned how he realized there were many other things that he would like to do. Not all of them are going to fit into the summer hiatus that they had from Big Bang. As wonderful as that had been and as much as he had gotten to do in that time. Parsons knew that in order to keep exploring and journeying on that road of who he is, both as a person and as an actor specifically, he needed to claim more of his time back.

However, during the podcast interview, he further mentioned that he would have done season 13 if anyone would have asked.
He further added how he believed they would have done more seasons of Big Bang if they would have agreed to as a group. So, the fact remains that they really never got an offer. Therefore, there was never a moment that he actually said no to an amount of money or a contract. There was nothing.
Why did Jim Parsons decide to walk out of ‘The Big Bang Theory’?
While talking to ‘David Tennant Does a Podcast With…’, Parsons shared that after a series of upsetting events in his life, he realised that there were various other things he needed to try.
Parsons recalled how their final contract was for the last two years, but no one knew, when they signed it, what that would mean. He kind of had a suspicion in his heart that that was going to be it for him when he did sign that contract. Parsons further shared that his feelings of quitting the show became more clear after he began to get overwhelmed with filming the show, rehearsing for the play, appearing in an Intel commercial alongside his dog’s ill health.
“I was exhausted. I was really upset about, more than anything, one of our dogs was getting really at the end of his life around then.”
Parsons also spoke about the time his dog was put down. He slipped and broke his foot while he was on stage. It was one of the scariest days for Parsons because it felt like he was on the edge of a cliff. He was teetering, and he saw something really dark below between the death of the dog.
Parsons also realised that at the end of season 12 he would be just six years younger than his father was when he passed away at 52. So he decided to leave the show. He felt there are other things he needs to try and do. “I do not even know what they are, but I can tell that I need to try”, said Parsons.
What is Jim Parsons next?
Jim Parsons was recently cast to play a complicated and real-life figure on the Netflix miniseries ‘Hollywood’. Parsons would be playing Henry Wilson, a talent agent responsible for launching the career of stars like Rock Hudson. In an interview with “Deadline”, Parsons talked about being part of the show. He recalled the day he was working on the set of ‘Boys in the Band’. Ryan Murphy (producer of the movie) knocked on his trailer and asked if he would like to work in ‘Hollywood’.
So, he read the first scripts. He had never heard of Henry Wilson before but was excited about playing him. He was excited to play a real character and about Google imaging him, and seeing if there was anything they could do to fuss with the appearance a little bit.
