It is hard to say goodbye to your favourite show, especially when they’ve been around for 15 years. ‘Supernatural’ might be ending with its 15th season, but fans of the fantasy series are hoping for a reboot. Is a reboot really on the cards? Let’s find out.
In the current entertainment production shutdown caused by coronavirus pandemic, most networks and streaming apps are keeping their scheduling plans to themselves, if there is a plan at all. The CW announced the ‘Supernatural’ Season 15 schedule which will include the airing of the final seven episodes, also the last 7 episodes ever. Fans are hoping for a reboot of the ‘Supernatural’ series, and the show, returning this fall, might just be getting one.

Here is everything we know about the inevitable ‘Supernatural’ reboot.
‘Supernatural’ reboot is inevitable and happening
The CW has been rebooting established television content quite a bit lately with shows like ‘Charmed’, ‘Roswell’, and a handful of other spinoffs already in the works. So, tensions among the fans have been at an all-time high since the series is meeting its end in 2020.
‘Supernatural’ remains the longest-running fantasy TV series. Other reboots will be lucky to even see half the success that this show has seen over 15 years.
So, not only are fans demanding a reboot, at this point, the reboot is something that is bound to happen, perhaps not exactly right away. And to make matters even more interesting, lead star of the show Jensen Ackles jokingly said that anything that doesn’t make it into ‘Supernatural’ Season 15 (its final season) will be saved for the reboot.
So, what should we be looking forward to?
The ‘Supernatural’ universe that will never die
Everyone’s favourite demon hunters, Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Ackles) Winchester, have been on the air since 2005. One of the reasons the show has survived for so long is because of its loyal set of creatives. The show’s original writer and creator, Eric Kripke, was with the series for five seasons.
The band of collaborators have helped it reboot spiritually multiple times throughout its tenure. The show’s rich mythology and the considerable number of episodes per season allow for many different types of stories and avenues which makes the world of ‘Supernatural’ never-ending and ready to be explored.
So, if rumours are to be believed, the creators of the show are juggling between a direct reboot of what the show looks like now or an idea for a spinoff. Jensen Ackles, who previously served as the director for a lot of episodes, recently hinted at a spinoff saying there is so much left to explore and only a reboot seems like the right place to do it.
And with the massive fanbase, it is unlikely that anything that is even slightly revolving around the world of ‘Supernatural’ will fail.
So, until a reboot is confirmed (which it practically is) what should we expect from Season 15’s ending?
‘Supernatural’ Season 15 ends: What should you expect?
From the various online sources continually blogging about the show’s expected ending, it is not going to be all gooey and sweet. Rest assured, after 15 seasons and a chaotic journey for Sam and Dean, the show won’t end with a cliff-hanger.
The series end, while not disclosed, cannot be a good one. Fans can’t expect Sam to get a “rom-com ending” with Eileen. But what fans have maintained is that no matter what the ending is, the show has, for them, been more about the journey than how and where it ends.
And this isn’t really the end, is it?
