The app that creates fake nudes from images of women crashed within hours of its release
The fact that DeepNude ‘crashed’ due to high traffic brings out some facts clearly to the table. That is if someone had any doubts to start with. The creeps are endless who would want to misuse what the service offers. This is what it offers – fake nude images of women! No, definitely not men. That area has some bugs in it. But it works too well on women. Deepfake has been quite in the trend since people started making fake videos of celebrities. But,
DeepNude takes everyone to the next level of insecurity.

Moreover, this app was available for free download for Windows. But if one required a higher resolution of creepiness, they had to pay $99 for the premium version. Though both the versions had watermarked images, some platforms proved that it was too easy to remove the watermark.
While the images produced by DeepNude can still be spotted as fake; if looked at carefully, the worst case could radically impact many.
The worst possible image output minus the watermark – that is, a low resolution and a quick look; could be enough to damage someone’s life.
Many lives have been destroyed thanks to deep fake pornography. And who can ever stop someone looking out for revenge? While men still pay professionals to make such images, apps like DeepNude make it accessible to all. Just at a click of a button, someone could ruin a life.
The world is just too misogynistic to be ready
The amount of misogynistic traffic that crashed the app should have given some perspective. But that was probably not sufficient for the creators of the DeepNude to know the damage that they have done. This is what they tweeted-
But thank the mighty heavens; they got their senses back somehow. And put out the plug from DeepNude. Maybe they couldn’t handle the criticism.
Whatever the reason, the world is definitely not ready for such apps like DeepNude. But alas, the damage has been done.
