The show that is very dear to our hearts
When ‘The Big Bang Theory’ started, it wasn’t much appreciated by the fans or the critics, and ratings remained quite low for some time. However, eventually, it caught up with speed and garnered a huge fan base that stuck to the show during its run and even beyond that.
Based in a few apartments in Pasadena, ‘The Big Bang Theory’ was a show that changed stereotypes and made geeks and nerds proud and respectable. The series began with Leonard and Sheldon living together.
The show that started with Sheldon as a naïve boy back in 2007, went on to completely revolve around him throughout the 12 seasons. Apart from being known for his quirky and genius nature, he was also known to change the typical traditional hand game into Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, and Spock.

Created by Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady, the show became a massive asset during the 12-year run, airing in syndication across the globe, collecting 52 Emmy nominations — including 10 wins — and 7 Golden Globes. The show went on to make its actors among the TV industry’s richest, earning about $1 million an episode on top of ownership points on the series.

Sarah Geller and her cameo and why things ended for the show
The finale episode of the show saw a huge and unexpected cameo. On the flight to Stockholm, Sweden, Raj makes friends with his seatmate who also ends up accompanying him to Sheldon and Amy’s Nobel Prize ceremony as his plus one. She is Buffy Summers aka Sarah Geller. Buffy, however, very clearly tells Raj that it isn’t a date.
The series has had numerous mentions of the vampire slayer before, but Sarah guest-starring as herself was a huge TV treat for the fans. Talking about casting Sarah for the show, in an interview with “The Entertainment Weekly”, Steve Holland the Executive Producer, said, “It was Chuck Lorre’s idea to find a fun moment for Raj, so she could be next to him in the plane. It felt like a really fun get”.
“We talked about who it should be, and different names were tossed about, but there is something really cool about Sarah Michelle. A lot of the writers are huge Buffy fans.”

Jim Parsons, who played the role of the annoying genius Sheldon, was the one who pulled the plug on the show. While speaking with “The Entertainment Weekly”, he said that he feels that personally, it had been enough of Sheldon for him. And Lorre decided to respect his decision and ended the show because he did not want fans to imagine ‘The Big Bang Theory’ without Jim.
“There was no factor; there was no situation that I was like, ‘Well, I’ve had enough of that.’ No. There was nothing like that. It was just … when you know, you know. And you’re susceptible and thrown around by the whims of your own existence and getting to a certain age and your life changes and suddenly you just think different”, Parsons continued.
“It has been fascinating to think about who I was 12 years ago. And sometimes when I have trouble learning a line or saying a line of Sheldon’s right now, it’s hard to know why specifically. But it’s like, you’re not the same person you were. There is a possibility that this actually became more difficult for you in a way. And I don’t know what that means but it’s like you just change.”
Is ‘The Big Bang Theory’ set to hit season 13?
When the show ended with its 12th season, it was one of TV’s highest-rated comedy, which is why producers CBS and Warner Bros were in talks for another season, potentially the 13th. But with Jim quitting the show, the tables turned for the sitcom and the producers backed off from creating another season.
However, fans are not the only ones who are desperate for a reboot of the show. Kaley Cuoco while speaking to “ET Online” at the Golden Globes, said, “I don’t wanna leave either. Everyone’s doing rebooting. We might as well do it in, like, a year!”. She said this while also confirming that she is open to playing the role of her character, Penny.
Adding to the hopes of the fans, Mark Cendrowski, the director of the show, told “Forbes” that just because the show has ended, doesn’t mean it cannot return. Hinting at a possible reboot, he said, “That’s not to say that there may not be something down the line, but I don’t think anyone wanted to jump into the next season and spin someone off immediately”.
“That doesn’t mean that won’t happen and, in a couple of years, maybe it’s a character or a couple of characters that catch up within a couple of years. Who knows if it will happen”, he added.
Though we do not have any official confirmation for a reboot yet, we are hoping we get one soon. And in that case, we will be the first ones to let you know about it. Meanwhile, you can binge-watch the show on Netflix, here, or even its very popular spin-off, ‘Young Sheldon’ available on Amazon Prime, here.
