The series revolves around an English combat nurse from 1945 who is mysterically swept back in time to the year 1743. Based on the novel series by the same name, the show made its debut on Starz network in 2014.

Season 1 entails the original story of how Nurse Claire Randall who is traveling with her husband Frank Randall to Inverness, Scotland when she finds herself thrown back to 1743. Since there is no way out, she falls in with a group of rebel Highlanders who were being chased by one of Randall’s ancestors.

The second season includes the Jacobites winning the battle of Prestonpans, Claire losing her baby and convincing Randall to marry Mary Hawkins while the duo move to Scotland. Later, Claire gets pregnant again. Before the Battle of Culloden happened, Jamie convinces Claire to return to the 20th.
After her return, she tells Frank everything about her time and pregnancy. He asks her to forget about Jamie and raise the child as theirs. Skipping forward to twenty years, Frank is dead. So, Claire travels back to Scotland with her daughter only to find out that Jamie is alive.
Season 3 and 4 were more interesting than ever. Jamie kills Randall at Culloden but is sentenced to an execution. He is later bailed out of prison, has an illegitimate child and returns to Scotland. In the meanwhile, in 1948, Claire enrolls in medical school, Frank is killed in a car accident and so she decides to travel back in time to Jamie.
However, he is now married to a widower. The duo visit Jame’s aunt’s plantation and witness the conditions of enslaved African-Amerians.
Season 5 which was released this year began its first episode with Jamie and Claire’s daughter, Brianna getting married to Roger. This is followed by Jamie hunting down Fitzgibbons in order to honor his promise that he made to Governor Tyron, eventually leading to Fitzgibbons’ death.
In the recent episode Jamie was bitten by venomous snakes but lucky for us all, Claire is able to save him.
When will the next season begin?
If online reports claim true, the 6th season might be released in 2021. Since the pandemic has taken over the world, all shootings and productions have been stalled till it is safe enough to resume back to normal.

Outlander Season 6 Release Date Is Out Of Question
The series is currently left with 2 more episodes to finish its 5th season and without a doubt, fans are eagerly waiting to see what’s going to happen next.
Will there be a 7th season?
Since we all know for a fact that season 6 has already been greenlit, it will only make sense for showrunners to confirm the speculations of season 7. Author Diana Gabaldon on whose novels the series is based on, has confirmed that she is writing the 9th installment of the novel series and suggests to write a 10th installment.
This leaves enough material for the creators to produce. However, it is quite clear that till the pandemic doesn’t stop, there won’t be any confirmation on the same.
