Netflix has already announced that the filming for ‘The Witcher’ Season 2 starts on August 17th. But, speculation about Henry Cavill quitting the show is not over yet.
Since the release of ‘The Witcher’ in December 2019, Henry Cavill in his rugged monster slayer avatar as Geralt of Rivia blew the minds of everyone globally (at least of all women). Fans have been desperately waiting for season 2 ever since.

Henry Cavill, known for his role as Man of Steel, has been negotiating for ‘The Witcher’ Season 2 for a while now. However, according to multiple reports in recent days, Cavill now has not one, not two, but three offers in hand to pick from, for instance, DC Comic’s ‘Man of Steel 2’ and ‘Mission: Impossible 7’.
Henry Cavill is quitting ‘The Witcher’?
It has been some months now that speculations have been buzzing around town about Netflix looking for options to replace Henry Cavill in ‘The Witcher’ Season 2. Fans are having a hard time processing the possibility. Although all rumours have been put to rest so far, there are still whispers hinting that Henry Cavill is giving preference to his other projects – case in point ‘Mission: Impossible 7’.

Henry Cavill chooses ‘Mission: Impossible 7’ over ‘The Witcher’?
‘Mission: Impossible 7’ was scheduled to release on 19th November 2021. However, the ongoing pandemic has put a halt on the plans. Now that the pandemic has somewhat come under control, Simon Pegg, who plays Benji Dunn in the franchise, confirmed in an interview with “Variety” that the cast and crew are set to restart filming in September.
Henry Cavill plays the main antagonist August Walker in this franchise. If these rumours are true, then it is going to be a major issue for Cavil in terms of his schedule, since Netflix has announced that the production of ‘The Witcher’ Season 2 will start on 17th August.
An online petition to remove Henry Cavill from ‘The Witcher’
Believe it or not, amid all the confusion, a petition by Stefan Sirucek has come to our attention asking for Henry Cavill to be replaced as the silver-haired monster slayer by Larry David. It is funny in its own right. 21 people even support this notion of replacing Cavill with 73-year-old ‘Seinfeld’ actor as a monster slayer. You are wondering why should you even think of considering this? The petition goes on to further explain why Larry David would be a better choice for the role.

“Consider the facts:
1) One of these actors is an uncompromising badass who fears nothing, takes no prisoners, and cannot be defeated. The other actor is Henry Cavill.
2) Larry David already has silver hair so the props department will save MUCHO CLAMS on hair dye and wigs.”
Season 2 will focus more on Ciri
As season 1 suggested, Geralt of Rivia and Ciri were bound by an oath made years ago. Ciri was born to do something great, and finding Geralt is her only way of achieving that. While the audience held their breath for the entire season, the season ended with Geralt finally finding Ciri.
According to the Polish novel by Andrzej Sapkowski, in the next season, Ciri is likely to go to Kaer Morhen to train to be a witcher. In the book, we also see Yeneffer and Ciri develop a close relationship; so hopefully, we’ll get to see the two interact more in the second season.
