The story so far
Based on a book of the same name by Pamela Redmond Satran, ‘Younger’ follows the professional and personal adventures of Liza Miller played by the gorgeous Sutton Foster. Liza is a 40-year-old divorcee, raising a daughter at the peak of her adolescence.
After Liza passes off as a 26-year-old woman to a tattoo artist, she plans to kick-start her career in the publishing industry pretending to be in her 20s. She climbs up the career ladder using her pretence and soon becomes an assistant to Diana Trout, the marketing head of Empirical Press. Hilary Duff plays Kelsey Peters, Liza’s friend and colleague.
Season 6 of ‘Younger’ ended with a cliff-hanger with many massive developments in the lives of Liza, Diana, and Kelsey. By the end of the season, Diana is seen marrying Enzo, and Kelsey decides to leave Millennial after a dramatic career year.

However, she reconsiders it after Charles tempts her with a generous offer. The biggest jaw-dropping moment of the season had Charles proposing to Liza at Diana and Enzo’s reception. Unfortunately, the cameras stopped rolling before Charles or we could get an answer.
However, Hilary Duff is not quite happy with Charles’ timing. She told “Entertainment Weekly”,
Charles has been falling short. Come on! Proposing at someone else’s wedding? Trying to make up with me in the church? Creating his own imprint behind our backs? Talk about sneaky. I’m so let down by him this season. He’s so damn charming that I understand it, but I’m Team Josh all the way.
Younger being renewed will perhaps answer Liza’s team of choice.
Sutton Foster’s insights on ‘Younger’ renewal
Production was paused because of the pandemic after ‘Younger’ was renewed for season 7. Sutton Foster and the rest of the cast are more than excited and waiting for the green signal to start shooting for the upcoming season. Foster told “US Weekly”,
“I’m so glad. It feels good. I mean, we’ll be one of the first shows to start filming again in New York City, so I think there’s a little anxiety about that. But we’re just so proud to have been a part of it. It’s been such a huge part of my life for the last six years, and I’m excited to finish telling the story”.
Although ready to go back to shooting, Sutton Foster has admitted that it would be difficult for her to return, after having spent most of her hours with her daughter during the pandemic. She said she feels that the transition from the quarantine period to the work mode will be hard after she had had a “concentrated” time with her daughter.
How long before season 7 comes?
Although ‘Younger’ has been renewed for season 7, there’s still some confusion as to when it will air on TV Land. On one hand, Sutton Foster has informed that the plan is to resume shooting by October this year. On the other hand, Hilary Duff believes that shooting would not commence before March next year.
There’s a silver lining after all. According to Duff, the fact that they have a tentative shooting date ready, and that the writers have begun working on the script for the recently renewed season 7 of ‘Younger’, is a positive sign. However, it looks like season 7 might be the “last season” for the show as revealed by Hilary Duff in the “The Morning Show”.

One thing we know for sure is that ‘Younger’ will stay renewed for season 7, and we are guessing that it would probably air sometime in 2021. There’s not much information as to what can be expected from the season since the production team is pretty tight-lipped on the matter. Duff has confirmed that creator Darren Star has been extremely “tight-lipped” regarding the twists and turns for season 7.
