Tom Cruise and Mission Impossible helped me in The Witcher – Reveals Henry Cavill.
Henry Cavill starred alongside Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible Fallout, and he even threw some punches on that pretty face of Cruise.
We all know how much Tom Cruise loves doing his own stunts. One of the main reasons behind the success of the Mission Impossible franchise is the mind-blowing stunts, and Tom Cruise performing all of them by himself as Ethan Hunt. In MI7, directed by Christopher McQuarrie, Tom Cruise flew a Helicopter through the Himalayan ranges of India (filmed in New Zealand), and crashed it in the snowy rocks, all by himself – ‘in real’.
How can someone not be inspired by him? The same happened with Henry Cavill, as he took inspiration from Tom Cruise and MI to do his own stunts in Netflix’s The Witcher.
“Working with Tom Cruise really helped” – said Henry Cavill.
Henry Cavill revealed that he himself did all of his stunts in The Witcher as Geralt of Rivia and that working with Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible helped him a lot in doing so.

When asked on virtual chat by Patrick Steward for Variety’s Actors on Actors, Henry Cavill said:
“For me, when it comes to stunts, I’ve always enjoyed doing the physical stuff. Working with Tom Cruise really helped — or maybe, in the eyes of the producers, made worse my enjoyment for stunts. I really want to do them now, and I think it’s an essential piece to the character.
“If an audience is watching Geralt on-screen, they must believe that it is me. If it’s not me, I feel like I’ve betrayed the character in some way, and so I try and do as much as a production will let me.”

Henry Cavill’s efforts to bring the stunts in The Witcher as true to life as possible has really worked in the favor of the show. What Henry Cavill absorbed while working with Tom Cruise in MI 7 has helped him in bringing his own version of Geralt in The Witcher.
Even after the first season of Netflix’s The Witcher received mixed reviews, the fight scenes in the season were considered to be some of the best. Physicality and fighting skills are one of the main traits of the character of Geralt and seem like Cavill really understood the character very well and brought to it what was immensely needed.
