While fans of Henry Cavill are fighting over The Witcher and CEU’s Superman, the actor is eyeing James Bond’s part after Daniel Craig.
Henry Cavill is deliciously good looking, and he is British, so becoming the next James Bond shouldn’t come as a surprise. However, fans are too excited to know if it’s really happening. Well, we would love to see Henry Cavill in 007 style. Cavill himself has hinted at this possibility. Has the legacy of James Bond already been handed over to the actor?
- Henry Cavill might be the next James Bond after Daniel Craig.
- Cavill was almost selected over Daniel Craig for James Bond.
- Is Cavill still willing to take on the duties of Bond?
James Bond needs no introduction. The film series focusing on James Bond has staked up to 24 blockbusters till now (Eon Productions films), clocking over a gross of US $7.4 billion in total.
The series, that debuted with Dr. No in 1962, has come all the way till Spectre in 2015, with 25th in line, No Time to Die, waiting for the release. Throughout the years, six great actors have played 007, in which the latest, was Daniel Craig. The seventh could be Henry Cavill.
Henry Cavill might be the next James Bond after Daniel Craig.
This is an exciting piece of news. After Cavill’s weaved his charm in Man of Steel, Mission Impossible Fallout, and The Witcher, who wouldn’t like to see him as 007? Henry Cavill might take on the role of James Bond after Daniel Craig, and we wish it happens anyhow.
Before Daniel Craig took the role of Bond in Casino Royale (2006), Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, and Pierce Brosnan have graced the character with their brilliant portrayals.
Currently, as the debate of who’s going to walk on this wire after Craig is intensifying, the name of many actors are on the radar. Some phenomenal young British actors are being considered for the role. This race has Game of Thrones star Richard Madden and Happy Valley‘s James Norton in the frontline.
However, we think an official update will only come after No Time to Die’s release.
Cavill was almost selected over Daniel Craig for James Bond.
Many fans don’t know that Henry Cavill almost had Bond in the bag, but Daniel Craig snatched it from him. Yes, back when the creators, including Martin Campbell, were casting for Casino Royale (2006), Henry Cavill was one of the top contenders for the role of James Bond, alongside Craig.
As revealed by Cavill himself, he almost grabbed the job, but then lost it to the better suitor, Daniel Craig.
In an interview with Men’s Health, Cavill revealed his screen test story for James Bond.
He said: “With the whole Bond process, I screen-tested many, many moons ago and it was, as far as I know, down to Daniel and myself – maybe one other.”
“I think Daniel – sorry, Mr. Craig – has done an incredible job of being Bond.”
Unfortunately, as Cavill was reportedly only 22 years old back then, he couldn’t grab the role. Not only the age but as revealed by Cavill, his little chubby body was also one of the reasons for him getting rejected for the role.
Is Cavill still willing to take over the duties of James Bond?
The talks of who’d be the next James Bond after Daniel Craig are hot and our bet is Henry Cavill. Because why not? Henry Cavill, if in case selected, will not be the first actor to play Bond after being rejected once.
Back when the series was being planned with Dr. No, the first choice for the producer and James Bond’s author Ian Fleming was Roger Moore. However, Sean Connery grabbed the role. But as we all know, Moore became the Bond in 1973 with Live and Let Die.
Back then Cavill lost for his age. But now, as the creators are looking to cast a younger Bond, and Cavill is still young enough at 37, he could be a perfect choice.
In the same interview with Men’s Health, Cavill has expressed his willingness to play Bond.
He said: “And if it [No Time to Die] is indeed his [Daniel Craig] last one, then the playing field is open.
“There are no conversations just yet, but we’ll see what happens.
“It would be a great, fun role to play.”
It’s such a relief to know that he hasn’t given up the thought of being Bond. Now when the time is precisely set for Henry Cavill becoming James Bond after Daniel Craig, we just wish the creators call him to decide the dates.
