Following the poor reactions to ‘Batman v Superman‘ and ‘Justice League‘, it got reported last year that Warner Bros. is reconsidering the future of the DC Cinematic Universe. Affleck has officially been replaced as Batman by Robert Pattinson, while Cavill’s role is still up in the air.
According to OK!, the Man of Steel star is “pointing fingers” at Ben Affleck for causing harm to the superhero brand. A source told the outlet that they didn’t have a lot of chemistry on screen and didn’t get along very well. Furthermore, while people disliked Ben’s portrayal of Batman, Henry does not believe it is fair that he should lose his job as a result. He considers it unjust that just because Ben will never reprise his part, he hasn’t been able to either, as per the supposed source.
How much truth lies in this rumour?
Cavill isn’t blaming Affleck alone for the underperformance of ‘Batman v Superman’ and ‘Justice League’. In both of those films, there were a lot of variables to consider. The production of ‘Justice League’ was extremely problematic, with substantial reshoots and a change of directors.
Also, as per “Suggest”, the premise is incomprehensible. Wonder Woman and Aquaman will be played again by Gal Gadot and Jason Momoa, respectively. Why should Cavill be affected by Affleck’s recasting, which did not affect his other co-stars? It is a completely unrelated issue.
To add to this, “Gossip Cop” also had a conversation with a source close to Henry Cavill, who clearly said that the story is nothing but an art of fabrication. Not to mention that back in 2019, Cavill made it very clear that he had no intentions of giving up the Superman suit.
What is the future of Superman?
One of the many unanswered issues in the DC Extended Universe right now is which characters and actors will return to the big and small screens in future films. With a variety of diverse projects in the pipeline, including some returning past Justice League members, things are looking well for the studio. Henry Cavill as Superman, on the other hand, has a shaky future.
However, a fresh report claims that Cavill will make a cameo appearance in ‘The Flash’, potentially reintroducing his character to the broader tale.
This latest Henry Cavill rumour follows the release of set photographs from both ‘Black Widow‘ and ‘The Flash’ on Twitter, clearly indicating behind-the-scenes access. The same source then claimed that Henry Cavill had shot a handful of scenes for ‘The Flash’, implying that the film could have a ‘Justice League’ reunion. While the studio hasn’t confirmed the rumour, it does hint toward a possible return of Henry Cavill as Superman.
