- Rory and Logan being in the “same place” was the reason – Matt Czuchry.
“Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life” was the revival min-series for the fan-favorite “Gilmore Girls” series. After 6 adorable seasons, the original series failed miserably in its 7th season. For that fact, fans had really high expectations from the revival series. Though the “A Year in the Life” tried, it fell short on several fronts.
One of those was the fact that it failed to convey the reason for bringing Rory and Logan together so unconventionally. The question had been bothering fans for a couple of years now, thus, here is the answer to it.
Why Rory and Logan had an affair in Gilmore Girls revival series?
In season 7 of Gilmore Girls, Rory refused when Logan proposed her, and that marked the end of their relationship. However, when “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life” came into existence, fans discovered that Rory and Logan are having an affair.
At the time, Logan was engaged to some heiress named Odette, and Rory was dating Paul (Jack Carpenter). What bothered the fans most was the fact that both were not officially in a relationship and were unaffected by the fact that they were cheating their partners.
Throughout the revival series, Logan appeared very few times and had a very small role to play in Rory’s revival story. This also raised the questions on the need for that affair in the story.
However, in the final moments of the mini-series, Rory revealed to Lorelai (Lauren Graham) that she was pregnant. This raised another question on who the father of Rory’s expected child was.
What did Alexis Bledel think of Rory’s affair?
Alexis plays Rory in Gilmore Girls original series and the revival min-series “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life”.
When asked how she felt about the affair, she revealed to Entertainment Tonight that she was surprised by this in the beginning. However, as per her, she later grasped Rory’s action as simple motion in not so good times of her life. She termed it “going through the motion”.
She said: “It’s a little uncomfortable for [Rory] even though she’s kind of putting on a brave face that she’s fine with it.”
While explaining why Rory was in an affair with Logan in “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life”, she said, “I think she’s actually not that emotionally connected to it. I think she’s kind of just going through the motions at this point when we pick up with them.”
Rory and Logan being in the “same place” was the reason – Matt Czuchry
In the same interview, when Czuchry was asked the reason behind the affair of Rory and Logan in Gilmore Girls revival series, he tried to give us an idea of what might have happened.
He speculated: “I think they were both in the same place at the same time. Rory and Logan have always had a love for each other that has gone back and forth. And they’ve never really wanted to say goodbye. They’re both in the same place at the same time in this particular story. So, it’s a mutual relationship that they’re carrying on.”
Though neither of them could give us a proper answer to why Rory and Logan were having an affair in “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life”. We could understand that it was probably to portray how Rory’s inner struggle was affecting her external choices in life (Or something like that).
