But what was beginning to look like a dream with no end is finally turning around for good. Here is what we know about the release of season 2.
What made ‘Gilmore Girls’ work for 7 seasons
In 2016, Netflix shared a surprise for everyone when they released a ‘Gilmore Girls’ revival, and people had the chance to visit Stars Hallow all over again. The show, which premiered in 2000, was everything that an audience with a fast-paced life wanted.
Set in a quaint fictional town in Connecticut called Star Hollows, the show navigates through the trials of love, education, and balancing careers and in the centre of it all is an excellent mother-daughter relationship in a run of 7 seasons.

In a culture where women were pitted against each other vehemently, the representation was an undeniable fresh breath. Not to mention, the representation of strong female relationships seemed like a driving force of the show. Whether it was Rory and Kim’s friendship, which made it through thick and thin or Rory and her mother having each other’s back no matter what.
So, a reboot was the safest bet Netflix made with the show until it all went downhill.

The reboot that didn’t work
If there is one thing nostreaming app or broadcasting network can afford at a time like this, it’s being deemed racist or sexist. And proper representation matters to Netflix because when the reboot premiered, the show got a lot of flack for being backwards and “not with the times”.
The audiences strongly condemned the fat jokes and lack of diversity in the revival, and creator Amy Sherman-Palladino was left to answer a lot of questions. But, if the rumours are true, Amy Sherman-Palladino has learned her lesson.
The showrunner, who has also created the hit Prime Series ‘The Marvelous Mrs Maisel‘ will produce the second season. After a four-year gap and a lot of reflection, ‘Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life’ is set to make a comeback on Netflix with season 2.
‘Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life’ Season 2 plotline
The second season was set to go into production this year. But due to the coronavirus pandemic, it has been pushed back by a year.
Season 1 left the audiences with more questions than it answered. Rory announced that she was expecting a baby without discovering who the father of the baby was. There is also the question of whether Rory decides to publish the book she wrote about the relationship she shares with her mother.
Yes, we know 4 years is a long time to wait, but will it feel so long once we know who the father of Rory’s baby is?
Who do you think Rory’s baby daddy is? And will Rory publish her book? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below!
