Old is Gold. And old is Gilmore Girls. Ended back in 2007, it was a hard goodbye to the world that we had familiarised with and the relationships and bonds that felt like our own.
The king of Revivals of course, stepped up and eight years later, Netflix had revived the series for Gilmore Girls: A year In The Life. We finally had a chance to see our favourite mother-daughter duo Lorelai (Lauran Graham) and Rory (Alexis Bledel) together again.
With a successful revival underway and given where the first season ended, fans are hoping for a revival for second season and it might actually be happening. But what has made this show such a success?

The Love Of Plain and Simple
In our quest to attain the unattainable sometimes the exhaustion gets us.
Gilmore Girls depicted everything that reminds us of a happy full-filled life. Set in the quaint fictional town in Connecticut called Star Hollows, the show navigates through the trials of love, education and balancing careers and in the centre of it all a wonderful mother-daughter relationship.
Also, seeing a loving relationship between two women at that time was a rarity. In a culture where women were pitted against each other vehemently, the representation was undeniably a breath of fresh air and a huge driving force for it’s long lasting success and the connection it shares with the fans.
The Reply To Revival
Although being ahead of their times in early to late 2000s, the revival on Netflix did garner some negative feedback from people who felt that the show’s jokes centred around obesity and for example- not understanding their help’s language was not welcome in the world they were living in now. (and they were correct) Lack of diversity was also something that was pointed out.
Perhaps, Amy Sherman-Palladino writer and show-runner for the series could take the feedback, fix it and continue from where it left off in the first season of the revival.
Thinking we may never know what becomes of Rory and her unexpected pregnancy and her yet to be published book demands that we get a second season.
Second Chance of Possibility
A show about dynamic women who aren’t afraid to be ambitious, funny, disturbingly honest and funny. The second season would answer a lot of question that the ending of season 1 left over for us. Who is the father of Rory’s baby? And will she still publish a book about her relationship with her mother?
It seems like it is very likely that a second season could be in the works, after all. Amy Sherman-Palladino said nothing is off the books and she still holds the right to the show. One thing she mentioned was that if the show were to happen it would be in a completely different format that what Season One turned out to be.
Netflix loves revivals and we love Gilmore Girls and Show-runner Amy Sherman-Palladino would love to come back for another season and if you haven’t guessed, that is one very lucky pattern doing the rounds and making this a very real possibility.
Also, there is absolutely no way we don’t want to see Milo Ventimiglia (Jesse) not return and break our hearts over a decade later, all over again.
