Has Jim Parsons changed his mind about the reboot yet? We don’t know for sure. What we do know is that nothing can stop fans from theorizing and forming ideas about the narrative of a potential reboot. We check out how season 13 of TBBT might look if the show was to continue!
They say all good things come to an end. And sadly that has been true for ‘Seinfeld’, it has been true for ‘Frasier’, and it is still true for ‘The Big Bang Theory’. 12 years, 12 seasons, and 279 episodes later, the legendary American sitcom came to an end on May 16, 2019, despite the original plan for season 13. And fans have never been more disappointed.

But, here is the thing. Fans do not know how to give up, especially when it concerns such an era-defining show like TBBT. There have been many ideas circulating about what would have possibly happened if there were a season 13. So, we decided to indulge too and here is how we think the show could move forward.
What The Big Bang Theory gang is up to now the show has ended?
Penny Vs Sheldon
CBS reported that approximately 18 million people watched the finale of ‘The Big Bang Theory’. The main reason this show gained massive popularity is one, it made science enjoyable, and two, the chemistry between its lead characters was great. But all that changed when Jim ‘Sheldon’ Parsons decided that ‘this is it’ for him, he needed to move on. In an interview with “Entertainment Weekly”, Jim said “I think there is nothing new left to do. Not that we couldn’t keep doing it, but it feels like we have chewed all the meat off this bone”.
Therefore, creator Chuck Lorre had to cancel the original plan for season 13, because apparently, the show will be incomplete without Sheldon Cooper. However, co-star Kaley Cuoco revealed her unwillingness to leave the show to “Entertainment Tonight” saying, “Everyone is doing rebooting. We might as well do it! I don’t wanna leave!”
Moving forward: The cast separates only to be reunited in their 50s
Ever since ‘The Big Bang Theory’ aired its show-finale in May 2019, the internet has been flooded with innumerable possible assumptions about what season 13 will be about if it happens. Some say we will see Leonard and Penny’s baby as announced in the season finale, Howard and Bernadette are going crazy over their newly born children, and whatnot. But here’s something you might not have heard before.
According to many theories, the show will have a time-jump and return with the cast in their 50s. Sheldon and Amy will shift to Switzerland to work in CERN lab as others are doing their stuff in different cities. The gang then reunites in their old apartment with their grown-up kids. And the kids will have characteristics of other members. For instance, Sheldon and Amy’s girl is Penny-like and Penny, who was initially against the idea of motherhood, finally has a son who is Sheldon-like. Imagine the level of craziness. And Uncle Raj finally has found his lady love. Now, how would you like that?
Addressing season 13 rumours
Recently, in May 2020, a CBS employee (allegedly) claimed that his boss has confirmed that the 13th season of ‘The Big Bang Theory’ is happening. Through a chain of tweets, he said, “Just got confirmation from my boss that TBBT Season 13 is going ahead although the 12th Season was supposed to be the finale”.
“Jim Parsons won’t be included because he thinks ‘it’s a cash grab’ – Brad Pitt will take his place instead”.
“Won’t be filmed until November though due to the current circumstances, meaning it will probably air in Feb 2021 on CBS, and March 2021 on E4 in the UK”.
So is it true? As far as the information goes, it is claimed to be fake news. So does that means ‘The Big Bang Theory’ is never coming back? Well, never say never. Director Mark Cendrowski revealed that the announcement of season 13 solely depends on the economics. If there is sufficient budget available and there’s enough fan demand, the idea of creating another season is pretty compelling.
