Which show would Kaley Cuoco star in if a reboot was in order? The highly successful show, ‘The Big Bang Theory’, that made her a star, or ‘Freaks and Geeks’, a show she auditioned for 20 years ago? Let’s find out.
Kaley Cuoco must make an impossible decision – pick between ‘Freaks and Geeks’ or ‘The Big Bang Theory’! The former is a highly rated teen show she auditioned for years ago, while the latter is a sitcom series that made her the star we know her to be today. We met the cast of ‘Freaks and Geeks’ about 20 years ago, but the show’s content has continued to stay relevant through the years. It was real and raw and full of laughs! And then there is ‘The Big Bang Theory’, a sitcom that was highly successful through its twelve-year run and, just like ‘Freaks & Geeks’, gave every cast member a well-deserved place in the spotlight.

‘Freaks and Geeks’: A cult classic that ended too soon
The only terrible thing about ‘Freaks and Geeks’ is that it got cancelled after the first season. We could dive into a lengthy review but here’s what we love about the show – their characters are real and the story explores the life of high schoolers just as it is. Their pain, their humiliation, joy, secrets, and discoveries – the narrative might be slow but the storytelling is as real as it can get!
You have your freaks and you have your geeks, but you also have people who are trying to discover who they are! Perhaps this is why the show’s one-and-done nature left such a steady imprint on its viewers.

Despite being cancelled after just 18 episodes, ‘Freaks and Geeks’ has continued to find a place for itself in lists that name the “best TV shows ever”. Often regarded as a series that was made way before its time by being equal parts bold and sensitive, ‘Freaks and Geeks’ is to this day, one of the greatest coming of age series of all time.
The cast includes Linda Cardellini, James Franco, Seth Rogen, Jason Segel, and others – and most of them are big names today.
It’s no surprise Kaley Cuoco would have been interested in auditioning for Freaks and Greeks
Kaley Cuoco Is Just Like Us And We Simply Can’t Get Enough (Quiz)
Kaley Cuoco originally auditioned for ‘Freaks and Geeks’!
According to “Vulture”, ‘The Big Bang Theory’ star auditioned almost 20 years ago for a role in the 90’s hit teen dramedy series. Oh, and she was just 12 years old when she auditioned for ‘Freaks and Geeks’, though the role she was competing for is still a mystery.
She didn’t end up getting a place in the cast of the acclaimed series but years later, went on to star in ‘The Big Bang Theory’, the hit CBS’ sitcom series that explored the lives of four loveable nerds as Kaley (Penny) navigated through it all. Here’s an interesting fact though. After her audition for ‘Freaks and Geeks’, the show’s executive producer Judd Apatow called and informed Kaley’s agent that “She’s going to work in this business”. And the world knows she did!
What show would Kaley star in, if a reboot is in order?
We bet Kaley has put ‘Freaks and Geeks’ behind her, it has been 20 years after all. The best-rated teen show of all time probably doesn’t stand a chance against ‘The Big Bang Theory’, a series she was a part of for 12 years and clearly isn’t over yet!
‘The Big Bang Theory’ was originally supposed to be renewed for two more seasons before Jim Parsons ( Sheldon Cooper) decided to discontinue his association with the show, confessing that it felt like the right time to move on to other things. His word was a catalyst in Chuck Lorre’s final decision, and the series creator decided to put an end to the series as he didn’t want to make a new season without the ensemble cast.
On the other hand, there’s no real reason as to why ‘Freaks and Geeks’ met with its untimely demise, after just a single season. Most viewers understand that dispute between the creators and the show’s broadcast timing is what led to it. But it surely deserves a second chance! The reboot could highlight the problems faced by highschoolers in today’s day and age. But till we can enjoy either of these reboots, we’ll have to make do with their reruns. ‘Freaks and Geeks’ is streaming on Netflix, and as for ‘The Big Bang Theory’, you can watch it on HBOMax!
So here’s a question – In a battle of reboots, what would Kaley Cuoco pick? The best-rated teen show of all time or the one that put her in the spotlight? Let us know what you think in the comments!
