‘Two and a Half Men’ – A staple for the American sitcom
Hollywood was hardly known to take risks with its content before the millennium kicked in. Chuck Lorre revolutionized American sitcom through his brilliant idea of a show revolving around the lives of two brothers. Lorre’s ‘Two and a Half Men’ saw the light of the day in 2003 and immediately took to every screen in every American household. The two brothers, Charlie and Alan, played by Charlie Sheen and Jon Cryer respectively, gave the ‘Two and a Half Men’ episodes a chemistry that could not be overlooked. The amusing lives of the two brothers, one being a casanova and the other a loser, left the audience wanting for more. The concept of ‘Two and a Half Men’ was far from that of a conventional American sitcom of the time, and what made it unique was the character of little Jake who served as a bridge between the two brothers. ‘Two and a Half Men’ episodes shone brightly for eight years and it is only fair to wish for a reboot.

What went wrong towards the end?
Although ‘Two and a Half Men’ had found glory on camera, there is no denying that the show had to face some tough times off camera. The amazing onscreen chemistry among the ‘Two and a Half Men’ cast in the show did hardly anything to fool the people. It did not take much time before ‘Two and a Half Men’ news started making rounds on the streets about Charlie Sheen taking to drugs and alcohol. ‘Two and a Half Men’s’ Charlie Sheen single-handedly sabotaged his career as he started showing up drunk to the shoots and ended up roughly handling those who worked with him. He was soon speaking nuisance about Chuck Lorre and it was not long before Lorre intervened and fired him, leading to the death of his character Charlie, in the show. Although Sheen fell into the dark side, soon after he lost the role, self-realization made him repent for his mistakes. Sheen later hinted at being unsatisfied with his character’s ending which made the audience look at it as a sign for a possible reboot of ‘Two and a Half Men’.
Is a reboot with a twist on hold?
Although there has been quite some amount of conjecture, regarding the return of ‘Two and a Half Men’, whether a reboot has been planned for the show is still doubtful. It would definitely be interesting if the makers of the show decide to fall off the trajectory and experiment with an all-women cast. It will be left to see if the female ‘Two and a Half Men’ characters will be as fun-loving as the male characters. It has been 5 years since the show ended, but it goes without saying that the viewers would love a reboot of the show, men or no men.
