‘The Vampire Diaries’ was undoubtedly a crappy teen drama, but, it gave us scenes that pulled our heartstrings. It gave us scenes that touched our heart and moved us.
We can’t take away credit from ‘The Vampire Diaries’ for creating moments that were soul-crushing and heartwarming moments and that pretty much leave you in a mess of emotions. The writing on this show was just phenomenal, and it deserves all the recognition for weaving these realistic touching scenes in a fictional teen drama. Even though we know you ridicule ‘The Vampire Diaries’ for its crazy love triangles, horrendous blood-drinking, and wonky mythology. We understand your issues with the show. In fact, we agree with your opinion. Rather than collecting the most romantic moments of the series, we chose to group 5 most heartwarming moments in ‘The Vampire Diaries’ for the list of romantic moments that will not fit in this space.
We can’t take credit away from The Vampire Diaries for creating these magical moments.
1) When Elena wasn’t comfortable being a vampire
Elena and Stefan faced the most heartbreaking question of their relationship. Visibly upset Elena, on her last day as a human, sat down with Stefan to confess what she had never said before. Elena and Stefan had a long conversation counting the flaws and benefits of being a vampire. Taking a moment, Elena gathered the guts to tell her love, something that she knew would break his heart.
Elena confessed that she never wanted to join Stefan in immortality, till eternity, no matter how much she loved him. She felt guilty saying it. But Stefan understands her. The moment when Stefan assures her that he understands her situation was so heartwarming and reassuring.
2) When all Enzo wanted was to thank Maggie
Maggie was a human who worked for the Augustine Society in the 1950s, studying vampire behaviour. She fell in love with Enzo, a feeling that was quite mutual. However, she was killed by Damon Salvatore because she was trying to investigate Damon and learn about vampires. Enzo wanted her to forget vampires and even him, but she didn’t.
‘The Vampire Diaries’ has given us many romantic moments, but this one between Enzo and Maggie is heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. We were teary-eyed when this speech played. It was a heartbreaking change of pace. All Enzo wanted was to thank Maggie for being the light at the end of the tunnel, for giving him hope in the darkest days.
3) A vampire’s life is full of possibilities for Caroline
Ironically, Caroline became more human when she became a vampire. She became the best version of herself when she became a vampire. This was the first time someone had said anything positive about being a vampire. When Klaus spoke with Caroline, the scene opened up a world of possibilities and a positive outlook on immortality that we hadn’t seen on TVD yet.
Klaus told her that vampirism isn’t always a desolate, shameful, monstrous thing. It can be a blessing if you allow it.
4) When Bonnie couldn’t take her loneliness anymore
‘The Vampire Diaries’’ Bonnie is Kat Graham‘s best performance on record. It was heart-wrenching to see Bonnie deciding to end her life in the prison world, after going so long without any human contact.
For ‘The Vampire Diaries’, this wasn’t a normal trapping scene, where someone is physically locked in an alternate dimension. They did more than just lock Bonnie away. TVD showed the torture and isolation of her story and incredibly moved us.
5) When Andie spoke that beautiful line of wisdom
Damon’s relationship with Andie Starr was undoubtedly problematic, to say the least. But there’s one moment between them that touched us like none other. Andie’s compelling gaze hit us harder than 1000 bricks.
She managed to say one line of wisdom. Unfortunately, Damon looked clueless or maybe he was pretending. She repeated the universal truth, “Love changes us”.
