‘Firefly Lane’ Season 2 title revealed
Kristin Hannah’s sequel novel not only teases what may occur in the show’s second season but also gives the mysterious title of season 2. The sequel novel of ‘Firefly Lane’ is named “Fly Away”. As per reports, makers are diligently following the novel. This means that they will adopt the title of the sequel novel as they did with ‘Firefly Lane’. This confirms that season 2 of ‘Firefly Lane’ will be titled “Fly Away“.
The show starring Katherine Heigl (plays Tully) and Sarah Chalke (plays Kate), is being constantly compared to other Netflix successes, ‘Virgin River’ and ‘Sweet Magnolias’. The story follows Kate and Tully having a nearly lifelong friendship. This is the kind of show that will make you want to call your besties. But the first season only tells half of Kate’s and Tully’s story. Even though we have seen them from their childhood in the ’70s to their adult years working in TV journalism. A lot more is left to be revealed, a lot more is supposed to happen on season 2 of ‘Firefly Lane’.
Spoiler alert! If season 2 follows the novel diligently, then we are going to lose one of the besties by the end of the second season.
Will ‘Firefly Lane’ Season 2 follow the sequel novel?
‘Firefly Lane’ hasn’t officially been renewed yet for a second season, but the finale throwing multiple cliffhangers confirms that the sequel season is underway. ‘Firefly Lane’ is based on a novel and the 10-episode first season only covered half of the book’s events.
Ben Lawson, who plays Kate’s husband Johnny Ryan, told “OprahMag.com”, “There’s plenty to go, just from the first novel. Further, there’s also a sequel. Hopefully audiences delve in and we can continue”.
The cast of ‘Firefly Lane’ predicted what’s ahead for Kate and Tully while speaking with “Oprahmag.com”.
In the final scene of the ‘Firefly Lane’ finale, Kate doesn’t let Tully attend her father’s funeral. “When I said I could never forgive you for what you did, what do you think that meant?” said Kate, hinting that something really bad happened between the two.
Since then we are wondering what exactly did Tully do? Star Katherine Heigl was in no mood to give hints on season 2, but she ruled out one option. Kate’s husband Johnny, who is Tully’s on-again, off-again crush, isn’t the reason why the ladies will break apart. Katherine told “Oprah Magazine”, “It can’t be that Tully sleeps with Johnny. I don’t think that any friendship can come back from that. I’ll fight to the death that it not be that”.
But the novel may hold a clue for their fight. According to the book, Kate and Tully’s relationship breaks when Tully invites Kate and her daughter, Marah, on her talk show to speak about their relationship. Tully, through the show, insinuates that Kate is a bad mother on live television.
Release date and cast updates of ‘Firefly Lane’ Season 2
We can expect to see Katherine Heigl, Sarah Chalke, Roan Curtis, and Ali Skovbye return to play the best friends in childhood and adulthood on ‘Firefly Lane’ Season 2. Ben Lawson will return as Kate’s husband Johnny if he survives the blast as it is given in the novel. Yael Yurman as Kate and Johnny’s daughter, and Beau Garrett as Tully’s mom, Cloud will also be seen on season 2.
The second season will end in tragedy, as per the novel. Kate will die of cancer in the end. The writer of the novel has a personal connection to the disease. She wrote the heart-breaking sequel to raise awareness about the inflammatory disease because she lost her loved ones from breast cancer.
Netflix’s ‘Firefly Lane’ will definitely raise awareness to a great extent than the novel because of its reach, but it’ll also break hearts. It is hard to imagine how Tully will move on in her life without Kate. Let us know what you think about ‘Firefly Lane’ Season 2 in the comments box below.
