All riled up, ‘Breaking Bad’ fans are thirsty for more of Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston after ‘Better Call Saul’ cameos, Instagram post tease, and ‘El Camino’.
From 2008 to 2013, ‘Breaking Bad’ seemed to make it to everyone’s watch-list. The show was riveting with a great cast, brilliant plot, and encompassed every emotion that left fans wanting more. Needless to say, when the show ended in 2013, fans were forever keen on a reboot.
Highlights:
- ‘Breaking Bad’ fans do not think ‘Better Call Saul’ cameos are enough for Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston
- Annoyed fans demand a reunion of Jesse Pinkman and Walter White.
- Will ‘Breaking Bad’ be renewed for season 6?
With the release of ‘Better Call Saul’ in 2015, ‘Breaking Bad’ fans soon flocked to the show for the sheer thrill of ‘Breaking Bad’ cast cameos, but that just didn’t seem enough for fans. While the show is equally brilliant on its own, true fans were keen on just having the ‘Breaking Bad’ cast on their original show.
The return of Walter White and Jesse Pinkman?
In 2019, Bryan Cranston posted a photograph on Instagram of two donkeys with the caption ‘Soon’. The same photograph and caption were also spotted on Aaron Paul’s Instagram, causing ‘Breaking Bad’ fans to speculate a ‘Breaking Bad’ reboot. The duo is famously associated for their roles as Walter White and Jesse Pinkman and it teased fans into believing that the five-season, award-winning drama may see the light of day, again.

When the second photograph showcased both stars with similar captions on both their Instagram feeds, fans took their excitement to a whole new level. All of this only to see fans being let down when the duo revealed that all the teasing was for an alcohol brand. What stung, even more, was part of the caption, “We had the time of our lives while shooting ‘Breaking Bad’ and truly built a very special bond”. Fans expressed their frustration on social media but kept their hopes up.

Creators Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould have something up their sleeves
Luckily, for them, ‘Breaking Bad’ co-creator Vince Gilligan had something up his sleeve and released ‘El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie’ in October 2019. The movie reunited fans who shared positive reviews, but with the taste of a new piece of their favourite stars, it is clear that fans want more.
So what do the creators feel about the famous duo on screen? In an interview with Collider, co-creator Peter Gould said, “I would love to have them back. I’d love to have Bryan direct an episode. I got to write an episode (of ‘Breaking Bad’) that Bryan directed and I was on set with him every day, and it was a wonderful experience. And Aaron Paul is possibly the happiest human being I’ve ever met, and he makes everybody around him happy. So yeah, I would love to have them back”.
Although this was in context with ‘Better Call Saul’, we wonder if it is also the same for a ‘Breaking Bad’ reboot for season 6.
With 2019’s release of ‘El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie’, the pressure is on for Peter Gould and Vince Gilligan to decide on the inclusion of Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston in what could be the sixth and final season of the AMC series, ‘Better Call Saul’. Neither of the creators has denied these reports. And while the prospect of Walt and Jesse on ‘Better Call Saul’ is exciting, it’s not sufficient for ‘Breaking Bad’ fans.
What’s the hype?
For fans that probably never caught the original ‘Breaking Bad’ show or only decided to see ‘El Camino’, or even are just here because of ‘Better Call Saul’- there is no simple way of explaining ‘Breaking Bad’. Until 2008, never has a show so smoothly progressed characters with actors that make you buy into the script 100%.
Imagine a goody-two-shoes professor become a victim of cancer, team up with a high school senior to cook the finest drug in town. The success of their drug turns the professor into a fearless druglord, making the protagonist an antagonistic character but also gives you every reason to support him. Then, you form a love-hate relationship with the senior because he sells out the professor to his brother-in-law, putting the professor’s entire family at risk. Sounds exciting yet? Well, we guarantee that words do no justice to what the show is. So, it’s only fair that fans want with a ‘Breaking Bad’ reboot for season 6.
