Vince Gilligan’s ground-breaking series ended years ago, but the rumours of ‘Breaking Bad’ Season 6 happening are here to stay.
It’s impossible to describe the marvels of Vince Gilligan’s ‘Breaking Bad’ without going into the details. The series was put together piece by piece and went on to be regarded as the true juggernaut of television. Bryan Cranston plays Walter White – a cancer-stricken, gifted chemistry teacher who, over five years, becomes the villain.
Highlights:
- ‘El Camino’ replaces ‘Breaking Bad’ Season 6?
- What could go down in season 6?
- ‘Breaking Bad’ has always been a story moving towards its ending
The good guy is gone before you know it, and then you’re slowly introduced to the newly minted version. His transformation from a dying, broken man to a meth kingpin is slow, and watching it is just as addictive as the meth his buyers can’t get enough of. Aaron Paul plays Jesse Pinkman, Walter’s former student who becomes his partner in the meth business.
It’s no surprise that a show as loved and acclaimed as ‘Breaking Bad’ is still talked about. Even after 7 years, fans hope that ‘Breaking Bad’ Season 6 could bring some answers to its cryptic finale.
‘El Camino’ replaces ‘Breaking Bad’ Season 6?
One would’ve imagined that creator Vince Gillian had enough source material to script the series’ sequel from. ‘El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie’ released on Netflix in October 2019 earning both positive and negative reviews. It was assumed to serve as an alternative to ‘Breaking Bad’ Season 6 and follow the events of the finale.
The film started the moment the series ended, following fugitive Jesse Pinkman on the run after Walter’s death. Aaron Paul’s performance is gripping, even after not playing the character for 4 years. He still plays Jesse with the same traits, a mix of goofiness and fear that pushed him through the five-season series.
His brilliant performance is memorable but that’s about it. ‘El Camino’ is somewhat like a double-episode sequel to the fifth season, and lacks the magic we experienced while watching the show. The story is solid, it tells you all about what Jesse had to do to flee his town. But for fans who expected to experience the thrilling drama that ‘Breaking Bad’ was, the film, unfortunately, doesn’t deliver.
There’s no real plot, it doesn’t pack surprises like the show did and the constant flashbacks get way too confusing. It’s sort of like a suspenseful slow-burn that leaves you feeling disappointed as if you didn’t get what you expected.
But to some fans, it’s the closure they deserved.
What could go down in season 6?
(Spoilers ahead!)
Vince Gilligan described Walter’s transformation as “taking Mr Chips and turning him into Scarface” an objective the show followed to the very end. His character development is unlike anything we’ve seen on television and continues to be the reason behind its success.
The show’s tragic finale in season 5 ended with Walter gazing at the meth lab before succumbing to gunshot wounds. He died bringing down one of his biggest enemies, and the finale was an epic send-off to his character. The ending does make it certain that Walter is no more, but that hasn’t stopped fans from assuming otherwise.
According to fans, ‘Breaking Bad’ Season 6 is a real possibility. The film sequel didn’t blow fans away, who now think Heisenberg could actually be alive and stand trial to go to prison. Or maybe he could cut a deal with the cops for his freedom. The possibilities for a new season are endless, but whether it could match the intricate storytelling of the last 5 seasons is a question no one can answer.

‘Breaking Bad’ has always been a story moving towards its ending
The metamorphosis of Walter White’s character from a hard-working teacher into a diabolical liar and meth king is the quintessential TV experience. It’s hard-hitting because you know he is just a regular guy, a law-abiding citizen trying to make ends meet. All he really wants is his family’s secure future after his inevitable death due to cancer. And all fans really want is to see him return with ‘Breaking Bad’ Season 6 again.
Unfortunately, there’s no official news on whether that’ll be happening. The finale concluded Walter’s story as it was supposed to. The series has been a story moving towards its ending right from the beginning!
Walter never took drugs himself but his obsession with the drug is what led to his untimely demise. Whether he is a hero or a villain has always been unclear – he’s a man of many undefined roles.
As the seasons progress, they unveil layers of his character and you discover he’s always been flawed. Walter and Jesse first appear as just fictional characters but before you know it, they’re real and they’re flesh and blood.
You sympathise with them, you cheer them when they succeed, and you despise them when they commit a crime. But no matter how many times you watch the reruns, you simply cannot get over it. We’re just glad Vince Gilligan decided to not drag the show and gave it an honourable ending!
