Netflix once claimed that Narcos was more popular than Game of Thrones. Naturally, such a popular series was bound to get a child series. And now that child series, Narco Mexico, is getting a season 2 on Netflix. But what will the story be all about? Many birds are chirping that El Chapo’s son might be coming to town.

As soon as Netflix announced that Narcos Mexico is coming back with a season 2, speculations about possible storylines came pouring in. One of them gripped fans even before Netflix announced the series.
This will introduce El Chapo’s son, Ovidio Guzman Lopez, in the famous drug cartel based TV series.
Heads Up! In this article you will read…
- Narcos Mexico Season 2 release date
- Will El Chapo’s son debut in the second season of the Netflix series?
Surely, most of the viewers are hoping to get a glimpse of Ovidio Guzman Lopez’s character. Sadly, the character of El Chapo’s son does not fit in the storyline that follows from where Season 1 left off. The two stories are, in fact, times apart. But there are reasons that make one believe there might still be hope for Ovidio Guzman Lopez’s character to feature in the Netflix series ‘Narcos: Mexico’ season 2.
Netflix Narcos: Mexico Season 2 — Money Matters
Narcos was hands down one of the most successful shows of Netflix. So much so that Netflix claimed that the show was more popular than even Game of Thrones in 2015. At that time, Netflix cited that the numbers which showed GOT’s popularity were biased as they did not cover all the devices. Even if we do not consider Netflix’s claims, the decision to go ahead and make more seasons of the series was enough to show the show’s importance.
Narcos surely brings home a good amount of earnings. And to add to that, a new character in the Narcos: Mexico Season 2 is only going to spike the show’s viewership. Especially thanks to the latest case of El Chapo’s son. Ovidio Guzman Lopez was very recently arrested in October 2019. But this triggered a series of serious threats. These threats included mass civilian killings.

Following this, Ovidio was freed to prevent any bloodshed. This event is so fresh in the memories of many people globally that if Netflix somehow manages to even give El Chapo’s son a cameo in Narcos: Mexico Season 2, it might boost the show’s already high viewership. This sole reason is more than enough for the OTT platform to bring in Ovidio Guzman in the show.
Even if the show is set in it’s usual timeline (early 90s), Netflix will never be careless to leave out Ovidio as a young boy. The Seson 2 of Narcos Mexico will release on 13 February 2020.
