Dutee Chand has done India proud as she has become the first Indian female track and field athlete to bag a gold medal at a global event. And the event in focus here is the World Universiade in Napoli. The 23-year-old finished her 100 m dash in just 11.32 seconds.
Dutee Chand pens her name down in the pages of Indian athele history

Dutee was the first to kick off among the eight athletes at the starting blocks. And those few seconds gave her a kink into the race. Just a second her, Del Ponte of Switzerland finished the race in 11.33 seconds to bag the silver. Later, Lisa KwaYie of Germany finished the race in 11.39 seconds to clinch the bronze on Tuesday.
The athlete from Odisha, Dutee Chand, holds a national record of 11.24 seconds.
After the memorable race, she is now the only Indian sprinter to clinch gold at a global event apart from Hima Das. Hima Das did India proud in the 400m at World Junior Athletics Championships in 2018.
