The series premiered its first episode on 26 September 2010, meanwhile, Downton Abbey: The Movie released on September 9, 2019. What makes Downton Abbey popular?
More often than not, it’s never a quick decision for any series’ maker to jump onto its movie sequel. However, the faith in Fellowes conviction is instilled in him by the mass audience the show boasts off.
And, nearly months after the release of Downton Abbey: The Movie, fresh reports of the movie’s sequel are already doing the rounds on social media.
How true it is to be good, Downton Abbey movie sequel a hoax or a fact?
Cutting across from all the gibberish that is online, a Downton Abbey movie sequel is indeed a fact. How do we know this? Actress Joanne Froggatt who plays Anna Bates in the series has hinted at a possible sequel being touted. However, she chose to keep tight-lipped about it.
Speaking to Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield on Monday’s This Morning, the actress has confessed saying, “I’ve heard whisperings, there’s nothing concrete, no script yet but there is talk of it.”
“I’d love to do it again. It’s just so lovely to go back and work with a group of friends,” the actress added.
Backing her claims, we have the series’ creator, Julian Fellowes, on the same podium as her. Fellowes had confirmed a Downton Abbey movie sequel back in January; however, he said he has a lot on his plate right now. Correct so, Fellowes is busy as a beaver with HBO’s parallel historical drama The Gilded Age.

At an interview, while promoting his new Epix and ITV drama Belgravia, Fellowes reasserted him by saying that the Downton Abbey movie sequel would follow the production of The Gilded Age.
“Give us a break, gov. Not until I’ve finished the scripts for The Gilded Age,” said Fellowes.
Following a huge success of the show and part 1 of the Downton Abbey movie, it’s a sigh of relief that the producer, Graham Neame has also come to the fore to back those claims.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter on a possible Downton Abbey movie sequel, Neame said, “We’re having those conversations. We’re working on what the story is, and when we might be able to make it.”
