Twitterati trolled the author of Half Girlfriend to a great extent after his tweet appreciating Sunil Nagal’s opening set win over Roger Federer
The author has been the center of many trolls. Recently, Chetan Bhagat was trolled for a tweet. Twitterati realised something was not right when he congratulated Indian tennis player Sunil Nagal. And while some were left hurt, others just trolled the 45-year-old at great lengths.
Chetan Bhagat trolled for lack of knowledge on Indian Tennis players
Sumit Nagal, who is an upcoming tennis star, took the world by surprise and made a name for himself. How so? Well, he became the first Indian to win a set against the legendary tennis star Roger Federer. In fact, even Roger Federer appreciated his game. The match took place at Arthur Ashe Stadium and Nagal used Roger’s rustiness to his advantage. Though he lost the match, he took the opening set. This was the final result: 4-6 6-1 6-2 6-4
Not only his opponent, but many people joined in to appreciate the upcoming talent. Among these was Chetan Bhagat. He was indeed very excited when he took to Twitter to put forward his views. This is what he tweeted, “Grew up being told that India has no chance in singles tennis at the global level. Just now @nagalsumit from my country won a set against The Roger Federer at the #USOpen. One day, India will win the Grand Slam too. Go Sumit Go!” Though he had his best intentions at heart, the words of Chetan Bhagat hit the wrong nerves of Twitterati who trolled them.
The thing that fired up the trolls was ‘India has no chance in singles tennis at the global level.’ So, fans refreshed his memory and reminded him how Vijay Amritraj beat the likes of Rod Laver, Jimmy Conners, and John McEnroe. Additionally, Chetan Bhagat was trolled for forgetting the likes of Leander Peas.
