Hey, now. Hey, now. If you are a millennial, there are high chances that your daily schedule involved sitting in front of the TV for a dose of Lizzie McGuire. The series that was centered around the life of a teenager, had an innovative touch of graphics with a relatable storyline. But what will the new Lizzie McGuire of Disney Plus look like?
Lizzie McGuire actress, Hilary Duff, stole the limelight when she announced a reprise version of the show on Disney Plus. In the Disney Plus world that is full of Marvel Superheroes, there are a few that are highly dosed with nostalgia. But the new series will not be the same (obviously). So what will the new Disney Plus Lizzie McGuire show be all about?
Have you ever wondered what new Lizzie will be all about?
13 going on 30
Well, surely all the writers, producers, and directors in the world can’t ‘Benjamin Button’ Hilary Duff! So, first things first, Lizzie McGuire will be 30 in the new Disney Plus reprise version. (She was 13 in the original show)
‘Yesterday my life was duller, now everything is technicolour’
Hello New York!
As the heading gave it all away, Disney Plus’ Lizzie McGuire will be living it up in NYC. But not only that, Hilary Duff gave an insight into all the character details when she talked about Lizzie McGuire on ABC’s Good Morning America.
“Her life is framed pretty perfectly. She has her dream job (as) an apprentice to an interior designer who is a pretty big deal. She has a gorgeous fiancé who is this chef at this cool Soho restaurant. She has a cute little apartment in Brooklyn and everything is going her way and she’s celebrating her 30th birthday with all of her friends.”
Lizzie “isn’t going to stay there for very long”
Hilary Duff told People TV that Lizzie will not stay in NYC for very long. She also elaborated the same to Vulture. For the Disney Plus show, Lizzie McGuire will “be coming back to Los Angeles. She’s forced out of New York. She’s like, ‘I can’t be here anymore.'”
Turns and Twists
Apparently, the first Disney Plus Lizzie McGuire episode will end with a twist. Lizzie will get a piece of big news as the episode puts the curtain down. Hilary Duff told Good Morning America that her character “gets some pretty big news at the end of the episode.” While it is not clear what the ‘big news’ will be related to- her career or her life?
Pink, Blue, and Orange
If there was one thing unique about the Lizzie McGuire show, it was the animated alter ego of the protagonist. “She’s the heart of it and the sass of it all,” Duff told Variety. She is, hands down, the life of the show. The pink crop top, blue jeans, and orange flip flops are all coming back to the new Disney Plus Lizzie McGuire show!
Disney Plus is making sure it pulls in all the Lizzie McGuire fans alluring them with nostalgia. October revealed that many familiar faces will feature in the show. These include Hallie Todd (Jo McGuire), Robert Carradine (Sam McGuire), and Jake Thomas (Matt McGuire).
But sweet sweet November brought another addition to the list. (And the most important one)
Aye Aye Gordo
Adam Lamberg will be returning as Gordo for Disney Plus’ Lizzie McGuire! Let’s confess it, the series would have been incomplete without it. Even Hilary Duff seems to agree with us here. In a press release, the actress said, “Gordo was an essential piece of the puzzle to what made the original ‘Lizzie McGuire’ so authentic and beloved. I couldn’t imagine the series without him. I can’t wait for fans to see what he’s up to 15 years later and how he fits into Lizzie’s adult world.”
No dates have been confirmed for the show’s release. But we will keep you up-to-date on everything Lizzie. (Bookmark us already!)
