Former baseball star David Ortiz wounded in Dominican Republic shooting
Dominican-American former Major League Baseball, David Ortiz, also known as “Big Papi” got shot. He is the first baseman who played 20 seasons, primarily with the Boston Red Sox.
The 43-year-old Ortiz was at the Dial Bar and Lounge in Santo Domingo around 8:50 pm on Sunday when a gunman approached from behind and shot him at point-blank range.

Former Red Sox slugger and Dominican star, David Ortiz, is out of surgery and doing “fine” after being shot at a club in Santo Domingo.
Ortiz underwent surgery and his condition was stable. and the gunman was captured and beaten by a crowd of people at the bar itself.
He was a ten-time All-Star, a three-time World Series champion, and a seven-time Silver Slugger winner. Ortiz also holds the Red Sox single-season record for home runs with 54, which he set during the 2006 season.
