Christians demand more burial space for dignified last rites
It has become havoc for the Christians looking for a dignified burial. A coffin came floating out of a grave in Sewri, Mumbai. And left all the mourners flabbergasted. No one could have imagined when they went in to pay their last rites that the whole incident would become flooded with unkempt drama.
A coffin came floating out of a Mumbai grave. Where is the space for a dignified Christian burial?

This incident took place in Sewri Christian Cemetry on Sunday. Water from the ground and rain turned the grave into a “well.” And the whole burial ceremony was swamped. A close friend of the deceased, Neville D’Souza told Mumbai Mirror, “This is the first time I have seen such a bizarre sight where a coffin came floating to the top after it was buried.”
Furthermore, he explained, “The labourers were scooping out water but the pit kept refilling. Ultimately, the casket was placed inside the pit but it floated to the top. The undertaker tried to apply pressure by sitting on it. Then he had to literally stand on it (to push it down)”
But the problem of Christian burial is not limited to this incident. “In Thane cemetery, before the body decomposes they put another body on top because of a dearth of space. The graves are shallower too. But what happened in Sewri was terrible. We don’t want to be buried in this manner,” he said.
How grave is the problem of graves? Does it go deeper than what is coming out?
