‘Young Sheldon’ Season 4 is Finally Here!
‘The Big Bang Theory‘ prequel following the childhood of Sheldon Cooper, ‘Young Sheldon’ is on the air for season 4. Originally, season 4 was scheduled to air, a long time before it actually did. However, like most shows and productions, ‘Young Sheldon’ too had taken a hit due to the Covid-19 pandemic. ‘Young Sheldon’ Season 3 productions had to be shut down and entered a seven-month hiatus before work on season 4 could begin again. Filming resumed post the Christmas holidays, although we wonder how many season 4 episodes does ‘Young Sheldon’ have in the can to shell out!

Season 4 of ‘Young Sheldon’ premiered on November 5, 2020, with the high school graduation of an eleven-year-old Sheldon. Speaking of the season premiere, show-runner Steve Molaro said,
“You know we’ve known for a long time on Big Bang that Sheldon graduated high school at 11 and it’s nice to finally see it happen. I can tell you that this was intended to be the season 3 finale and because of COVID we got shut down two days into the shooting of it”
Giving a little sneaky bit into what really went behind the premiere episode, he added,
“I can tell you that there are certain scenes in it that were shot seven months ago but I don’t think you would ever know. And there’s a sweet little Big Bang surprise at the end of it. We dabble in the future Big Bang storyline at the end of this episode. I was really happy with how that turned out”.
Season 4 has bagged Melanie Lynskey from ‘Two and a Half Men’
Yet another surprise iN waiting is that ‘Young Sheldon’ Season 4 is bringing onboard one of the former cast members from ‘Two and a Half Men’. Melanie Lynskey, who starred in ‘Two and a Half Men’ for the entire run of the series, has been roped in as one of the season 4 cast members for ‘Young Sheldon’. Lynskey played the recurring character, Rose, a love-struck stalker of Charlie Harper in ‘Two and a Half Men’.
With young Sheldon all set to explore college as an eleven-year-old high school graduate, Melanie Lynskey will be playing one of the professors in Sheldon’s college. She will play Sheldon’s philosophy lecturer, Professor Ericson. As scheduled, Lynskey will appear in the episode titled, “A Philosophy Class and Worms That Can Chase You”, which is about to go on air on February 11. It also seems like Lynskey’s character is not going to go easy on poor little Sheldon. The episode tag for the particular ‘Young Sheldon’ Season 4 episode reads, “Sheldon’s first day of college is derailed by his new philosophy teacher”.
Could Melanie Lynskey continue for the entire current season?
While it’s a pleasant surprise for two of America’s favourite sitcoms to come together in a small but significant way, the question remains on the longevity of the union. Melanie Lynskey joining the ‘Young Sheldon’ cast is a lovely gesture to ramp up our memories, more so since both the shows are essentially the brainchild of Chuck Lorre. However, how long would Melanie Lynskey continue playing Professor Ericson on the show? Could it be just for the one episode or could it be for the entire season 4 run of ‘Young Sheldon’?
Honestly, the answer is still uncertain. Not much has been said about Lynskey joining the cast yet. However, given the role she is playing it could go either way. With Melanie Lynskey, we have seen her appearing and reappearing on ‘Two and a Half Men’ for the show’s twelve seasons. If we are lucky enough, there’s no reason why ‘Young Sheldon’ couldn’t do it!
