The fog of mystery surrounding Charlie Harper’s death
The fans of ‘Two and a Half Men’ were left heartbroken when season 9 began with the news of Charlie Harper’s death after being hit by a train in Paris. “His body exploded like a balloon full of meat”, said Rose (played by Melanie Lynskey), Charlie Harper’s neighbour/alleged fiancé during his funeral. As it turned out, Rose and Charlie ran away to Paris to get married. But when she caught him with another woman, after returning from her shopping spree, she pushed him in front of a train the next day.

The key to Charlie Harper’s return lies between the scenes. Look closely!
The reason Charlie Harper’s death has remained a mystery is the fact that Harper’s brother Alan Harper (played by Jon Cryer) received his ashes after the cremation in Los Angeles. The question here is if Harper’s body “exploded like a balloon full of meat”, how can it be cremated? Even during Harper’s funeral service, a closed coffin was shown. Later, the final episode of ‘Two and a Half Men’ revealed that Charlie was still alive and that Rose had faked his death. She has been hiding him in a basement dungeon for the past four years.
Does that mean there is a chance of Charlie Harper being resurrected, thereby, Charlie Sheen also coming back to the show?
Media fiasco that drove Charlie Sheen away
In 2011, Charlie Sheen had been in and out of rehab for his drug addiction constantly. And, to this, add him being HIV positive. But it was during season 8 when he went off the rails and made some disparaging comments about show creator Chuck Lorre on a TV interview, which resulted, later, in him being written off the show by CBS and Warner Bros. In the said interview, Sheen claimed that it was he who had “converted this tin can into pure gold” referring to the sitcom. He also said in an interview with ABC’s Good Morning America that he wants to sue CBS for $300 million for killing to the show and leaving him jobless.
Charlie Sheen is now eager to resurrect ‘Two and a Half Men’
Ever since Charlie Sheen came back to his senses, he has been expressing his desire to make amends with Lorre and his willingness to be a part of a possible reboot. In 2018, Charlie Sheen said in his interview with “Loose Women”, “There’s a trend towards reboots these days. I think as long as everybody who had been involved is still healthy and alive, there’s a possibility [of the show reboot]. I think that would be one [show] that people might tune in for”.
He even took upon himself and found a free slot for the possible reboot. Charlie Sheen tried to capitalize on the sudden cancellation of the highly-rated US sitcom ‘Roseanne’ due to its racism controversy, by tweeting, “Adios Roseanne! Good riddance. Hashtag NOT Winning. The runway is now clear for OUR reboot”. However, his hopes died and efforts went in vain when ABC replaced ‘Roseanne’ with its spin-off ‘The Conners’.
So, will there be a new season for ‘Two and a Half Men’? Will Charlie Sheen’s wishes come true? Will Charlie Harper come back with season 13 and demand his house from Walden Schmidt? Will it be Sheen versus Kutcher in season 13? There are so many questions, so many loose ends. But whether Chuck Lorre will ever be ready to resurrect his famous creation, is not confirmed yet.
