When it comes to childhood stories of The Big Bang Theory characters, we know Sheldon takes the cake. But, there is another character who makes us just as curious about how he was raised to be the way he is. Move over Young Sheldon! It’s time for a young Howard to tell us his story.
Yes, you heard us right. Thanks to the humongous fanbase of The Big Bang Theory and the success of Young Sheldon, CBS could now sit and think about another spin-off, which is guaranteed to be just as successful. With the demand for content related to The Big Bang Theory, cashing further on the stories of other characters seems to be the natural next step. Fans are looking forward to hearing the story of young Howard now, how he came to be the way he is.
- After Young Sheldon, CBS is bringing Young Howard.
- Why a Young Howard show?
- Young Howard show to explore Howard’s strife with his family.
The Big Bang Theory ran for 12 long seasons comprising 279 episodes, before coming to an abrupt end in May 2019. The show was one of the most-watched and one of the greatest sitcoms to ever air on TV.
Though it was later revealed that CBS wanted to continue the show for two more seasons, Jim Parsons, who portrays Sheldon, wet-blanketed the proposal. There is no Sheldon without Jim, and automatically, no TBBT. So, the show’s creator Chuck Lorre decided to end the comedy series with season 12.
After Young Sheldon, CBS may bring Young Howard.
After the end of The Big Bang Theory, CBS came up with Young Sheldon, exploring the childhood of the prodigy. But now that Young Sheldon may drop the curtains, fans are concerned. The spin-off began in 2017 and has seen three successful seasons as of now.
Several reports suggest that season 4 will be the finale of Young Sheldon. As young Sheldon (Iain Armitage) joins Cal Tech for his graduation in season 4, it will bring the story to the beginning of The Big Bang Theory, connecting the storyline to the adult Sheldon.
However, TBBT fans shouldn’t be disappointed, as CBS is in no mood to let the franchise rest, not yet. You may see Young Howard after Young Sheldon. Yes, you heard us right.
Why Young Howard?
We don’t know if CBS is planning a spin-off for every TBBT character, but we are sure that the next one would be about Howard Wolowitz (Simon Helberg), if it gets made at all. Why? Because among Sheldon’s friends in TBBT, it’s Howard’s childhood that we have explored a little and it feels worth exploring more.
In season 2 finale of Young Sheldon, we get a sneak peek into the young avatars of all Sheldon’s friends from TBBT. Among them, the younger Howard stood out. We saw Howard engrossed in a video game while his mother kept yelling at him.
Indeed, adult Howard is an interesting character, but we think his younger version could tell us a story or two about how he grew up, what made him act like such a creep around women, and why he chose engineering.
Young Howard may explore Howard’s strife with his family.
Unlike other TBBT characters, the story of Howard has great depth. From his toxic relationship with his mother to the separation of his parents, and then finding his dream of becoming an astronaut, there’s a lot to explore. Thus, it makes sense for CBS to go for a Young Howard after Young Sheldon.
Though Howard’s mother never appeared on TBBT except for a brief glance in season 6, she played a crucial role in Howard’s storyline. We know how seemingly bitter the relationship of Howard was with his mother, how she coddled him even as an adult, a sign of not wanting to let go of the only man in her life, her son, after her husband walked out on them.
Till now there has been no confirmation from makers, but if the reports of Young Sheldon ending after season 4 are true, we surely can expect Young Howard or something similar from CBS.
