Season 9 was perfect but fans want more
The 5 times Emmy awards winners is based on the British series by the same with Steve Carell, Rainn Wilson, John Krasinski, Jenna Fischer and B.J. Novak as leads. In the final season, Andy returns from the manager training, but his personality reverts to the arrogant self as he was in the earlier seasons.
After he abandons Erin and the office to travel around the Caribbean, Erin rekindles romance with new customer service rep Pete. Meanwhile, Jim is offered a job in Philadelphia but he chooses not to take it and saves his relationship with Pam.
While Angela deals with her husband’s infidelity with Oscar, she also struggles to suppress her attraction towards Dwight. Andy quits his position as the manager to pursue his career in acting but ends up embarrassing himself in an Acapella singing competition which later becomes a viral Web series. Consequently, Dwight is handpicked to be the new manager. He pursues his interest in Angela which eventually leads them to getting hitched.
Later, the season ends with Nelly adopting Ryan’s abandoned baby after Kelly and Ryan run away together. Jim and Pam move to Texas, Andy gets a job at Cornell, Stanley retires, Kevin and Toby are both fired, and Creed is arrested for many crimes.
Season 10 confirmation
In 2018, chairman of NBC entertainment, Robert Greenblatt revealed that he was in contact with the show’s creator, Greg Daniels, about a potential new season. It’s been two years since then and no official statement has been released by the network or show’s creator.
There were talks about the show having a Christmas special film much like the British version did. John Krasinski confirmed the idea with IndieWire as he said— “I think the UK thing that I always have pitched and wanted to do is that Christmas special thing, where we do a Christmas special this year and then two years from now, or three years from now, we do another one,” he said. “I love that idea, coming back and finding out where everybody is. I would totally be down for that”
However, no such film has been produced or initiated in any way. While Stevel Carell(Micheal Scott) is not keen on coming back to the series, Ed Helms(Andy Bernard) revealed to E! that he misses the show.
What do fans think about the new season?
While most fans believe the rumours of season 10 are just about what they are, some fans are still hoping for at least a bare minimum. Homyality on reddit says—
” I wouldn’t mind seeing some little short series of a couple episodes like they sometimes did, “Where they are now” or something but not a full season. The show ended well and I have no qualms with that.”
The series which was nominated for Emmy awards for 42 times, was honoured because of its amazing script, great actors, perfect storylines and most importantly, witty catchphrases.
As Micheal Scott says, “I’m not superstitious, but I am a little stitious,” let us know in the comment section below about your favorite catchphrase and your opinion on the possibility of a new season.
